a smile appeared on your face. this was all you needed to get at natalie.

as far as you know, miles and her are still together and she thinks miles doesn't have a clue about them.

miles eventually knocks on your door, you hop up and help him inside.

"welcome," you say trying not to sound too excited.

"welcome i feel, this place is niiiice." he says with a chuckle. but that jokingly matter doesn't last long, his face slowly dropping. shit, maybe he did really need someone to talk to.

you smile, "thanks. um, are you like.. alright? why'd you ask to come over?"

"i mean... i did say i needed someone to talk to right?" he replies.

well damn.

you shrug and nod in defeat. he pulls out some weed and a joint. "and.. this." he smiles at you.

IT doesn't take long for miles to get comfy.

you're now laying down together on the couch, obviously high.

you sigh, "i just.. don't get where it went wrong, miles. she's been my best friend forever. she knows more than anyone how hurt i am because of austin."

miles starts rubbing your back as he finds the words to say. "i know, i'm sorry about all that. i thought i could trust her too."

a comfortable silence lingers.
"do you feel insecure now?" you randomly question.

he winces, "i mean, it hurt me. but im not that insecure. i know that deep down natalie has problems. and they don't have anything to do with me. my attention just wasn't enough i guess. but it doesn't mean im ugly, or i'm too weird or too this or that. it just means that she obviously needs to work on herself."

you glance at miles in awe. you wish you had a mindset like that when it came to austin, but you didn't. when you saw natalie with him, you immediately thought about ways she was better than you. what she had that you didn't.
