" What the hell is wrong with you?" I shout, pulling Kai into the bathroom. " I don't know," he replies, standing in the corner of the room. " or maybe I was trying to stand up for you," he adds.
I sigh, " Maybe you were, but my parents and your parents need this alliance. You should've just let it go," I say, walking closer to him. " Nick is a bastard who should know what not to ask somebody, but you need to learn how to control your temper," I add.
He sighs, tucking my hair behind my ear. He smiles as he sees my uncovered eye. " You're right, and I'm sorry," he says, leaving his hand on my cheek.
" Are you sorry?" I ask, raising my brows. " No, but you want me to be sorry," he replies, pulling me into a tight hug. I chuckle softly at his reply, hugging him back. " Then I'll say you are sorry," I tell him.
He laughs and kisses my forehead before finally letting go of me.
" I want you to calm down in here, and then you can come out," I say.
He nods in agreement, and I turn around to leave. I sigh, pulling my hair from behind my ear and covering my left eye.
" You know you're pretty with your eye uncovered," Kai says.
" Well, you may think that, but I don't," I whisper, walking out of the bathroom.
Ever since I was little, people would always stare and wonder why I had a scar over my eye. I cover it so I don't feel like a freak show.
" is your little boyfriend calm now?" Nick asks, watching me walk into the living room. " He's not my boyfriend. My parents may want an alliance with your dad, but that doesn't mean you can disrespect I and Kai," I snap, shaking my head.
I'm going to stab this boy with a fork.
Nick groans and rolls his eyes. " So, you are single?" He asks, ignoring my previous statement.
I shake my head and sigh. "None of your business, Nick. ," I reply firmly. " It wouldn't matter anyway. You're going to be my wife soon anyway," he says, smirking. My face drops as I clench my hands at my sides.
" What did you just say?" I ask quietly, my voice trembling slightly. Nick looks at me with a smug look, and repeats himself slowly, "You are going to be my wife soon. For our families to have an alliance you and I have to marry," he says, walking closer to me.
Bullshit.
" Fuck off. My parents would never agree to that," I replied angrily. Nick smiles and shrugs.
" We'll see about that," he says.
" You should leave Nick," I say, my voice shaking.
" Or you're not going to like what happens next," I warn him, pointing towards the door. Nick chuckles and steps closer to me." What are you going to do?" he says mockingly.
" Are you deaf, or are you fucking stupid," Kai grits out, marching into the living room. Nick's face falls as he takes a step back. "I think this is your cue to leave," Kai growls, keeping his eyes focused on Nick.
" I'm not afraid of you," Nick retorts, folding his arms. " The sweat dripping down your face says otherwise," Kai says, narrowing his eyes. " Now, get out before I do it for you." Nick takes a few steps back and then turns to leave, slamming the door behind him.
Kai sighs heavily and then walks over to me, wrapping his arms around me in a comforting hug. "Are you okay? I knew I shouldn't have left you alone with that bastard," he whispers, kissing my forehead.
" I'm fine. You don't need to worry about me," I murmur, leaning into Kai's embrace. " But thank you for being here." Kai tightens his hold on me, and then we stand there together in the silence of the living room.
Kai is different than other boys. The day he met me, he didn't stare at my eye or call me a freak. He dragged me to the sandbox so we could play. I think that was the moment I realize I liked him.
