" You go home today," Riona says, walking into my hospital room.
Thank god, ive been in this damn Hospital for a week, and I can't take it anymore.
" Mhm," I hesitate, " Are you okay?" she asks, looking concerned.
Everyone asks me that, every moment they're asking ' Are you okay' and I never truly know the answer.
"I don't know," I say honestly. " I never thought that I would have cancer, much less have cancer and be pregnant," I said.
Riona nodded in understanding.
"Enough about me, you look like you have something on your mind," I add, changing the subject.
Riona looks away for a second and takes in a deep breath. She sits down beside me. " You know all about my fertility issues and how me and Leo want nothing more than to have a child," Riona began. " While you've been in the hospital I've hung out with Oliver every day, and he is just so precious," she continued.
Riona looked up at me with pleading eyes, " I need to know that you are okay if me and Leonardo adopt Oliver," she said.
I felt a wave of emotions but hugged her tightly and smiled, "Of course, I want you two to adopt him," I said. "He deserves nothing more than parents who will love him unconditionally," I continued. Tears of joy filled Riona's eyes as she hugged me tightly.
" Why would you ever think I would say no to something like that?" I asked her.
"I don't know," she said. "I just didn't want you to think that I was trying to bring a constant memory of Raul into your life," she added.
I smiled and reassured her that I was okay with it.
" Thank you, Aurora," she said. "I need you to promise me something," I say, pulling away. "Anything," Riona replies.
" I know Saint will always choose me, but I need you to make sure if it's between mine or my baby's life you will make sure they save my baby," I said, my voice wavering as tears flooded my eyes.
" Nothing matters more to me than ensuring that my baby will be okay,"
" Aurora...," Riona said, her eyes welling up. " Riona you are my best friend, sister-in-law, and daughter's godmother. I need you to do this for me, please," I said.
" Please dont make me promise you that. I don't want to have to choose," she whispers. " Please Riona. I am begging you," I said.
She hugged me tightly and agreed with a solemn nod. " I'm going to make sure you both survive. I will do everything I can, I promise," she whispered.
" Thank you, Riona," I whisper.
I smiled and hugged her back tightly, feeling relief wash over me. We sat together for a while longer before heading back home, both of us confident in the decision we had made and ready to face.
