Rowan POV
The day had come. I was so nervous. No, not nervous, I was beyond nervous, whatever the next one is (if you just smiled at that, praise to you) .
As nervous as I was, I was equally as excited. I was wearing a mint green dress with a black knit sweater over it. My hair was in a half up half down do, and I had my favorite black Doc Martens on. Uriah had texted me that the date was casual, and not to wear something too formal.
We had agreed to meet at a park near the beach, and when I got there I saw Uriah in a simple black t-shirt, but it had our favorite band, Coldplay, on it. He had worn a Coldplay shirt when we first met back in the fifth grade. He wore black pants and converse. He was standing next to a large blanket with grey and white balloons and bunches of food laid out.
He was scrambling with everything, and hadn't seen me walking towards him.
Uriah POV
I was adjusting everything on the blanket for this picnic, when I heard her sweet voice.
"Stop messing with it, it looks amazing." I looked up to see her standing there and smiling. Gosh, she looked gorgeous, even when I said to dress casual.
"Not as amazing as you." She blushed and lightly punched me on the shoulder. I gestured for her to sit down. She sat down and looked at everything I had laid out: Peace Teas, water, bacon sandwiches, grapes, potato chips, and raspberries.
We talked, laughed, ate, and jokes around. But I don't think she noticed me staring at her when she wasn't looking.
"Hey, I forgot to say. I like your shirt." she said. I looked down.
"Oh yeah." I said. Remembering the time I first met this amazing girl.
"You'll have to get me one." she said, jokingly.
"Well, I'll keep that in mind." I said smiling. But I meant it.
Rowan POV
After the amazing picnic, Uriah said that we're going on a hike. We were chatting on the trail when we heard familiar voices. Peyton and Sabrina.
"Rowan! Uriah!" Sabrina called. Her and Peyton started jogging over to us.
"Hey guys." Uriah said uncomfortably. I don't think he expected the company as well.
It ended up all of us four walking on the trail together. Uriah and I mostly stayed quiet, until Peyton asked me a question.
"So, you guys here just for a walk, or...?" He asked.
"Oh, um, I'm actually here on a date with Uriah." I said, shifting.
"Oh." was all he said.
We kept walking, occasionally talking. It was an easy trail until I tripped on something in the rock, causing me to fall. Luckily, Uriah caught me. I stared into his deep, gleaming brown eyes.
"Um, thanks." I said, my face turning red.
"Anytime." He replied.
Uriah POV
I wanted to stay like that forever. Me holding her, staring into each other's eyes. But, we had to snap back to reality because of our two guests.
I don't want to be rude, but Sabrina and Peyton were kind of in the way of our date. As mean as it sounds, I meant it.
But, I know that Rowan and I would have alone time as soon as we got to the top.
+++
The sun was setting when we were only three- fourths of the way there.
It wasn't until 7:26 then we reached the top."So, I have to, uh, show something to Rowan." Sabrina raised her eyebrow at me, but didn't say anything. I took Rowan's arm and led her far away from the other hikers including Peyton and Sabrina.
"Okay, okay, Uriah. Where are you taking me?" Rowan laughed as I dragged her along my side.
"Just wait, and-here." I let go of her arm and stopped. In front of us was a view truly breath taking. The waves were crashing against rocks and colliding with the sand. The deep blue ocean stretched across and met the purple - blue sky. There were stars, twinkling here and about, glowing down at us. The moon was in a crescent and matched perfectly with the stars.
Rowan was the first to speak.
"Wow." was all she said.
"I know." I replied. "It's like you, in a view. Beautiful."
"You have to stop it with these cheesy lines." She said, laughing.
"As long as I'm looking at you, I won't stop." I said. She looked up at me. Our eyes locked, and I leaned in and kissed her.
All those stories say you feel sparks when they're the one. But I had already known Rowan was the one.
I didn't feel sparks.
I felt
