Rowan POV
As we approached them, I could feel my hands clamming up. This always happened when Peyton was near.
We talked for a while, then we all separated and went to our classes.
Sabrina and I went to our homeroom.
Our teacher was quite lazy and never did anything, so we mostly just talked in class.
"So listen, I have something really exciting to tell you", she said with a bright smile on her face.
"Yeah, I kinda noticed", I said with a laugh.
"PEYTON ASKED ME OUT!" she said and started squealing and jumping.
As soon as she said those words, I could feel my heart drop in my chest. I felt like there were tons of needles stabbing at me, and I wanted to melt into the floor right then and there and just cry. But then I realized how important this was for one of my bestest friends, the girl thats always been there for me and the girl who I grew up with.
"Um, Rowan? Are you okay?", she asked. Then I noticed that I was just standing there and hadn't moved or said anything.
"Oh um yeah, yeah I'm really happy for you." I said, and planted a fake smile on my face.
She just smiled and started squealing again.
"I mean, I just can't believe Peyton actually asked me out! I mean I know we're friends but..." she started rambling on and on about him, but I just kind of tuned her out.
Never in my life have I thought that I would hear those words come out of her mouth.

During class, she's all I would think about. The way her hair was the perfect color, her eyes full of curiosity and hope, and her smile, her laugh. Her laugh. Her laugh was like an ice - cold beverage on a hot summer day.
And her name could light up the whole world. Hearing her unique and truly beautiful name could call everyone's attention. Even saying her name could mean the world to someone, like me.
