Sleepover

After a moment, you stop kissing to catch your breath. Your feelings were all so sudden, you had butterflies in your stomach and your face was a nice shade of hot pink. Wally was also blushing, but this time he kept eye contact. You stared into his loving eyes as you continued to walk to Julie's. Wally's hand was around your waist while you held the other, intertwining fingers. He whispered compliments into your ear as you giggled, getting flustered. You didn't want to tell anybody that you were in love quite yet. You just wanted to keep it a little secret for now.

Once you arrived at Julie's, you let go of Wally's hand to knock on the door. As you look back at Wally, you couldn't help but notice he seemed off. He looked slightly annoyed. Not at you, but he seemed to not want to be here. But why not? He's great friends with Julie, and well, the whole neighborhood for that matter. Why would he not want to come to the party?

Before you could ask him what was wrong, Julie answered the door and greeted you with a big smile. Wally quickly smiled again, but you could tell it was forced. You gave him a sideways glance, concerned.

You, Wally, and Julie went inside. Howdy, Eddie, Frank, and Sally were already there. The living room floor was covered with mattresses, pillows, blankets, bean bag chairs, and stuffed animals. The lights were dim and everybody was gathered in a circle around the coffee table, trying to agree on what movie to watch. You and Wally find a spot in the circle and take a seat. You turn to Eddie,

"Hey Eddie, when will Barnaby and Poppy get here?"

"Oh, Poppy is visiting family, so she'll be busy, and Barnaby..."

Eddie pauses and looks around the circle.

"I actually don't know where Barnaby went! He was here just a minute ago... He probably went to the bathroom, or went to grab something from his house" Eddie said, and suggested we wait for Barnaby to come back.

Some time passed, and after your 3rd round of UNO, you were getting pretty worried.

"Hey, does anybody know where Barnaby went?"

"Howdy went looking for him, but now I can't find Howdy. I'm gonna go look for him now." Sally said leaving the table.

"I'll come, too." Julie said, following Sally.

Ten minutes pass and neither Julie nor Sally returned. Now Julie, Sally, Howdy, AND Barnaby were missing. Everybody else also seemed tense. You find Wally's hand and grip it tightly. He gives your hand a reassuring squeeze.  Everybody came up with a plan to team up and look for the 4 missing neighbors.

Frank and Eddie check the upstairs bedrooms while you and Wally check the upstairs bathroom and closets.

After a few minutes, Frank comes running into the bathroom where you were inspecting, he was panting.

"Y/N! Eddie! I can't find Eddie!" He says shakily.

You, Wally, and Frank look everywhere upstairs. Thats when you hear Frank shriek out in the hall. You run out of the bathroom but Frank is nowhere to be seen. Your breath gets shaky, and it's hard to swallow. What's going on?

Wally walks up from behind and wraps his arms around your waist, not wanting to lose you, too. His eyes were wide and alert. He looked around the room for anything that could be lurking in the shadows. You feel his breath on your neck and it gives you the chills.

Wally slowly releases you. As you turn around to look at him, he's gone. You catch a glimpse of green. Howdy? You walk towards where you saw the green. It went downstairs. You run down the stairs and hear a door slam. Of course! Nobody looked in the closet under the stairs!

You open the closet door and are greeted with Howdy, Julie, Sally, Barnaby, Frank, Eddie, and Wally. Sally and Julie are holding up a large banner that reads, "Will you be mine?" It was covered with cute little drawings of flowers and hearts. Frank and Eddie stood on either sides of the room and pop confetti poppers. (Howdy and Barnaby just sit there like 👁️👄👁️) And Wally is standing in front of it all. He looks at you with nothing but love in his eyes.

You cover your mouth in shock and feel tears running down your cheeks.

"YES!" You almost scream. You run up to Wally and hug him tightly, he then kisses you.

You almost forget that everybody is watching. Then you see Barnaby holding up a camera, recording it all. You didn't even care. You were too happy to be embarrassed. After the surprise, you watched a movie, laying your head on Wally's shoulder. And to end the night, you fell asleep in each other's arms.
