"I'm not girl talking with you."

"It's only six weeks," Rory laughed as Cassie hugged her for the fifth time since they arrived at the airport.
"We haven't been apart for longer than one week," Cassie reminded her as she hugged Rory a little bit tighter. "Are you sure you wanna go?"
"I'm sure," Rory nodded as she pulled out of the hug.
Cassie really didn't like this. One of the constants in her life was Rory, they'd never been apart for that long. Even if they were fighting, Cassie always knew that Rory was right downstairs. But seeing her with a suitcase in her hand made Cassie honestly a little nervous. It also reminded her that not too far into the future they'd both be going to college, and maybe not the same place.
"Are you completely sure though?" Lorelai asked her older daughter, holding tightly onto her suitcase not wanting to give it to her.
"I'll be back before you know it," Rory told them as she finally got her suitcase out of Lorelai's grasp. "You can call me every day and write me letters. Six weeks will be a breeze."
"Just don't forget us," Lorelai called out to her as Rory slowly backed her way to their security line.
"Have fun with Paris for six weeks," Cassie yelled but Rory just shook her head at them before joining the line.
As Rory walked further away from them Lorelai put her arm around Cassie's shoulder, squeezing her softly. "Looks like it's just you and me, kid."
"Yeah, I guess it is."
All of the Gilmore women dealt with Christopher leaving differently. Rory's leaving for Washington, Lorelai's spent more time at the inn than at home, and Cassie, well she's fallen back into the habits of last summer. She was either drunk, high, or hungover with very little in between.
She's been with Ethan too, but unlike her he got a summer job working at the community pool. Which meant they really only had evenings together. His days were now filled with little kids in the pool in which he wore a whistle around his neck and yelled at them for running. Cassie was bored. She had absolutely nothing to keep her mind off what happened at the wedding.
"So I have to head back to the inn," Lorelai said as soon as they walked back into the house.
"Sounds good," Cassie replied as she sat back down on the couch.
Lorelai picked up her purse before turning towards her daughter, "Will you be okay?"
"Yes, mom. I'll be fine," Cassie replied, not wanting Lorelai to worry about her.
