The Next Couple Hours
"There you are!"
There's Kieran's mom, in the kitchen making tea, watching us like a hawk when we come back into the house after our anti-screen time.
"Getting chilly," Max says.
I'm waiting. Where's that remark from Kieran's mom?
"Would you like some tea?"
Not that one.
"Uh, no," Max says.
"No. I'm good," I say.
"Are you sure?"
Where's the one that kicks us out? The sun is still shining, so we have to stay outside.
"Kieran?"
"Sure, yes," he says.
Back in Kieran's room, Kieran wants to play something else other than Smash Bros. The new game that Kieran picks is one that they've been tag-teaming during BC (Before Chase!) visits.
"Kieran?"
The only time that Kieran's mom bothers us is so he can grab his tea. The game itself is a single-player adventure, which Kieran and I watch from the sidelines while Max gets a go because Kieran has his tea to drink. I've personally got a headache coming on from all of the anxiety that bottled up inside of me because I'm not a shower like they are.
Just when it's getting noticeably darker in the room, Max has to go.
"Max! Your mom is here."
Max wraps up his latest task in the game, then hands the controller off to Kieran, so he can take over. I'm not feeling up to it, so he made the right choice.
"Alright," Max says. "I'm out."
"Aw. Okay," Kieran says. "Bye."
I give Max a smirk and a wave.
Max taps me on the head on his way out. "See you Monday, Acorn," he says.
I...
"Uh, yeah. Monday," I say.
What the hell is with him and Acorn?!
And where is Dad?
