**Chapter 12**

The Story behind Kat's mother

After school, I went to my room and looked at my mirror. I literally fell in love with myself. But cried a lot.

I remember in the Bible it said that when people left with Moses, they cried tears of a taste of salt. For the work they did in Egypt.

I sat on my bed wishing my mother was right here at this moment singing me my favorite song. I would be hugging her, and my life wouldve been like Heaven.

When I was about 9 years old (this year Im turning 13), my mom was like a guardian angel. She would bake cakes, cookies, and even just the best lunch.

I played Barbie's with my mom, and played like those Tea Parties a lot. Even my dad was happy. I thought my life would be wonderful forever, everlasting love. Until one rainy day.

I came home from school, and I saw my mom with a lugage and a passport.

"Mommy, where are you going?" I said

"Sweetie, I'll be back for you. I promise. she said

"No! Take me with you, we can both live a happy life and play Barbie's together. Did I make you mad?" I cried

"Shh, shh I'll be back for you, I promise. You never made me mad" she cried too

About one minute later, she hugged me and sang me my favorite song:

You are my life

My sweet lovely life

I will love you forever

And never ever ever, leave youuuuuu

My mom left in the car and waved at me. She left a small box in my room before she left. But you needed a small key

To this day, she did leave me. After she left everything changed, my dad got drunk and lost his job. But he now has a better job. I waited for 5 years for her to come and get me, nothing has changed.

If my mom were here now, we would have Girls Night out, shopping to the mall, and telling her what clothes I should wear.

I got up and opened my dresser, I still had a picture from her, wrapped in a envelope. It was sent from Chicago, so I know where she lives. Its an old picture, with me and her. I had black hair and brown eyes, that was the ugly me. But I will never forget that time we had together.

When I put the picture back in, I found a small key. Maybe for a small box or a diary. I looked on the back of the key and it said: FROM MOM
