Doctor March lied to Anne about the bat's hair sample and Winters wanted to find out what he was hiding from them. Both Bucky and Anne sneaked into the laboratory but found a strange sick man taking medicine before leaving the room.
The two vigilantes were looking around as they saw a table full of different chemicals and medicines.
Both of them were examining the table until they heard someone's voice.
Kirk: Who's there??
Hearing some noises, Kirk entered the room and looked around until he saw someone stepping out of the darkness.

Kirk looked at Anne before he saw Bucky who were staring at him through the darkness

Anne: I'm looking for Doctor March.
Kirk: He's not here, Batwoman.
Anne: Where is he?
Kirk: Giving a lecture on human extinction and bat evolution. He's really quite brilliant.
He had a smile on his face and walked towards the table as Anne was staring at him and said something.
Anne: He's misguided and a thief.
Kirk: He's just a theorist. He was afraid to put it to the test. But I wasn't. . . I knew we'd discovered a formula to create a new species. Neither man nor bat! And once I started taking it, I couldn't stop. I desperately wanted to, but it took over. Francine and March tried to protect me, but it was too late. The beast knew what chemicals were needed to bring itself about. It was out of my control!
Anne and Bucky looked at Kirk who grew a sadistic smile on his face and began letting out an evil laugh.
