-ˏˋ.Following morning ?:?? AM

Alhaitham ˊˎ-

Alhaitham heard the sound of the crippled paper in his pocket as he sat down with a cup of morning coffee in his hand.

For the last hour, it's been the only thing plaguing his mind. Not the lack of rest after bringing Kaveh to bed or the overwhelming stench of alcohol on the latter's breath.

It's that archons forsaken paper.

He placed the book in his hand on his thigh and reached into the fabrics, fidgeting with them until he finally pinched the paper in between his fingers. Using just one hand to uncrumple the mess that was the page, his eyes followed the obscured text

-nce my comeuppance filled my days with a new kind of ideal. To have a second voice challenging your ideals and to have said voice skillfully alter them gave me new insight. Now, solitude no longer fulfils me and-

His fist crumpled the paper, fueled by a wave of embarrassment as he threw the ball away from himself. To think that he'd right such obvious cheesiness in front of the entire Akademiya. All that was left was to write an "I love you" at the bottom of the page with cursive letters and Sumeru rose scented perfume.

What are you thinking?

He took a sip of the coffee he completely forgot about, opening the book with his now free hand.

Ever since the clock stopped working, he had no indication of what was the precise minute. The obvious abundance of ticking sounds accompanying his morning routine and the even more obvious lack of an extra voice pestering him was enough to plant a sense of unfamiliarity. Especially in his own time of crisis, all he wanted was a repetitive ticking noise keeping his mind at ease.

That is, until he heard an obvious rustle of the sheets from his room, followed by a gentle thud. He brought his eyes up at the door, anticipating the arrival of his zombie-like roommate creep up from the room.

To anticipate would be putting it lightly, for he sat there with a mug in his hand and his gaze plastered on the door like a doting wife. That's until the silhouette of what could be Kaveh emerged from the room, wrapped up in white sheets like an silkworm cocoon. "G'mrng..." He muttered, not even trying to open his mouth to spout a coherent sentence.

Assured of his arrival and amused by the sight, Alhaitham brought his attention away, despite not having a book to accompany his avoidance. "How's your headache?" He questioned, hearing the sheets drag across the floor as the blonde passed him.

But instead of a falsified mask of sobriety or even an attempt to cover up his weakened state, Kaveh threw his body onto the sofa right next to Alhaitham, stirring up a wind and threw his head back to rest it. "Ion wanna talk about it..."

The scribe stole a glance at him. His hair was an utter mess, very faint circles tainting his undereye. The cover embraced the entirety of his body, except his neckline down to his chest. Of course, he came shirtless. "I left some medicine on the table. If it gets worse, take a pill after eating." Alhaitham flicked a page, trying to distract his mind from the barely lifeless man next to him.

Illegible grumbles reminiscing that of a sumpter beast escaped the cocoon that was Kaveh. Mumbling curses and other misdemeanors, a familiar utter caressed the scribes hearing. "Haithm? Did I say anything stupid last night?"

His ears perked up, tempted to turn towards him and with a stale expression, reveal all of the secrets that spilled out of his lips last night. To tell him of his rage, of his anguish and his blissful ignorance. To watch him squirm in his place and avert his gaze, just to burry the man he revealed himself to be.
