OCEAN ROUTLEDGE
We run to the van, I hop in right after JJ and he heads to the lighthouse after John B takes about the family heirloom and how it correlates to the Redfield Lighthouse.
"Redfield Lighthouse. That's our dad's favorite place." John B said.
" Right. You're gonna post up and look out for bogeys, okay?" Harper winks at me.
" W-wait... w-why me?" I looked around.
" Because you're not coming." John B demands.
" Why?" I crossed my arms.
" There are independent and dependent variables. You're independent. We don't know what you'll do." John B said.
I roll my eyes at John B's response.
HARPER WILSON
" Listen to me for a second." John B yells at Ocean. " Pope, you stand lookout with Ocean and JJ. Okay?" John B tells them the plan.
All Pope was talking about was his scholarship essay that he has to write and try to stay out of trouble.
"All right, would you just shut up already?" I said. " Remind me what we are looking for again." I looked at John B.
" We'll know when we see it." He implied.
Me. Kiara, and John B all head towards the lighthouse.
POPE HEYWARD
As I was working on my essay all I hear is sirens.
" Oh, Shit." I jumped in my seat.
" Cops, JJ, cops." I yell.
JJ jumps into the van and we drive off to JJ's house.
JOHN B
" Shit. This way. This way." I started running the opposite way from the sirens.
We finally find a place to rest but Harper didn't seem happy.
" Hey, look. You've—-You've got to admit, that was kind of promising." I told her. " I mean, our dad, the Royal Merchant, the ranger, the Royal Merchant." I continued. " I mean coincidence? I don't – I don't think so." I finished.
" It's his job to know about shipwrecks." Harper looked at me.
" Okay, but the Royal Merchant?" I said.
" John B, that's like the most famous shipwreck of all time." she explains to me. " Redfield's one of the most common names in the Outer Banks." she added.
" That can be anything." I look at her.
" Look, as wild-goose chases go, this was a really good one." she said.
" Look, maybe we missed something at the lighthouse." I implied." We should go back." I added.
Harper laughed " You believe me, right?" I asked her.
" Look, uh – I get it." she started.
" Harper, come on." I insisted.
" You miss your dad. I know." She said with sadness in her voice.
