"I swear to god this bitch never shuts up," my best friend Zahlia hisses, rolling her eyes at our Literature Professor.
"It's because he doesn't have a wife to talk to," my other friend Tyson mutters.
I laugh quietly as Tyson rolls his eyes, "We should set him up on a date," Zahlia giggles, her lips curving into a wicked smile.
"As if anyone would be able to put up with his drawling voice, he's past his expiry date," I say under my breath, causing both Zahlia and Tyson to erupt into giggles.
"Miss Lancey, something you'd like to share with the class?" Professor Brown asks in his usual monotone voice.
"Not really," I sigh, sinking deeper into my chair as my cheeks flush red.
"Then I suggest you keep your voice down," he says sharply, pushing his glasses up his crooked nose as they fall down.
"Of course, I'm sorry," I say sweetly, flashing him a smile as he mutters something under his breath.
"Ass kisser," Tyson mutters, rolling his eyes as I smile innocently at him.
"And this is why I'm top of the class, and you're not," I say.
"No it's because you actually do shit at home for it," Zahlia says in a bored tone, eyeing Professor Brown as he glares at us again.
I shrug, "Cry me a river,"
"Swim in my tears," she yawns, making me smile at her.
"As I was saying, you have an assessment coming up, which will go towards 50% of your final mark," Professor Brown continues, sounding annoyed as I hear a snicker behind me.
"This will be done in partners," he says, Zahlia and I immediately looking at each other.
Tyson groans and we both look at him, "Sorry hun, trios never work," Zahlia says with fake sympathy.
Tyson makes a face at her as Professor Brown coughs loudly.
"I will be choosing your partners, because I want some actual, good quality work to be done," he says in a scathing tone.
I internally groan and sink further into my chair, rolling my eyes as Tyson smirks.
"That's what you get bitches," he whispers, making Zahlia scowl at him.
"Yes Mr Carter," Professor Brown almost groans, the class turning to face the grinning boy.
I almost roll my eyes at the sight him and Carson Beckett, both slouched down in their seats with crossed arms, both obviously annoyed at having to be here.
Captain and vice-captain of the Hockey team, they're possibly two of the smuggest people I've ever met.
"I think I speak for the whole class when I say, it would be much more enjoyable to pick our own partners," Max says in a silky tone, making me roll my eyes.
"And pray tell, how would that be enjoyable for me?" Professor Brown says in an unconvincing tone, "Last time I let you choose who you worked with, I don't think I've ever seen such a dismal performance from you and Mr Beckett,"
Tyson snorts with laughter as the two boys turn to look at him.
"That's not fair, we were preparing for an important game," Max whines, shoving his friend on the shoulder for back up.
"I wasn't listening, what's happening?" Carson asks, looking up from his computer.
"Mr Beckett if you have no intention on learning then you can leave," Professor Brown says in a disgusted tone.
