[A/n: just pretend dude looks like Kain 💀]

The one who's behind the whole thing was a hired man that can control minds. That much I remembered. A man so good at controlling minds, even trained members of the Union were easily taken over. At first, I had thought whether going directly to Jiwoo was a good idea or taking out the main problem was better, but I haven't trained enough mentally to be able to take on such a scary power.

I took a deep breath as I was once again in the air, bracing my legs when I fell onto another roof top, this time allowing the momentum of my body to move along with the direction I was jumping towards, softening my landing by doing one of those cool rolls on action movies.

I won't lie, at first I wondered why they always landed like that but now that I'm in their shoes, it makes sense. It puts a lot less strain on your body while also keeping a good pace to where you can immediately start running right after. For the first 5 landings, I tried to skid to a stop but always lost my balance and hurting my legs in the process. The next 3 times I tried to do a super hero landing but that too didn't work out since I only crashed into a door, sometimes over vents. Especially since the gravity and acceleration of my jumping made my landings harder than usual, it started to numb my limbs. The last 4 times I was using this method, now easier to land.

Even then, I wondered how Kayden and his other pals were able to move atop buildings like freaking grasshoppers. Thinking more about it, it was probably because they're seasoned awakened ones whose bodies can hand landing from 1000ft in the air without a single sting nor scratch. While I, both very new and inexperienced with quite possibly a soft body compared to natural born awakened ones, still gets hurt from simply a height of 20ft in the air.

Anyways, I'm also starting to understand just how much power I'm supposed to use depending on the distance from roof to roof. The closer it is, the less I use, the farther it is, the more I use. Simple really. But if I so many as calculate it slightly wrong, I could end up jumping too far and falling down into the streets below. Too little, I'll miss it and probably crash into the side of the building or into someones room. Both cases aren't ideal.

"It's way more complicated than I thought" I said, decided to take a quick break on the roof I landed on because after crashing a total of 11 times, it's starting to take a toll on my body. A stinging numbness started to envelope both arms and feet. As if I rattled my bones too much.

Taking this time, I took out my phone to check on Jiwoos location again. Eyes widening when he the little dot started to move very fast in another direction. Shit!

A second later, his location beeped off. Disappearing.

Jiwoo is currently in combat with one of the Klein brothers within an isolated space created by four agents of the Union.

Staring at where Jiwoos last location was, I clenched my jaw, immediately hopping to the next building top without rest this time. Yes, of course Jiwoo will be able to grow stronger the more he fights, but each fight he has always hurts. It's painful more than anything. I finally accepted the fact I'm now intertwined with Jiwoo and his story, his journey. Since no matter what I did I always ended back at square one.

So, I might as well help as much as I can. Including lessening the burden on Jiwoos shoulders. Protecting him and helping him as much as I can. That is my resolve. That is my reason for helping Jiwoo. As well as thanks for making me realize I shouldn't close myself off from everything after my death. For showing me there's more to the awakened world than pain and combat. For being my first comrade in such a scary place.
