CHAPTER FOUR

NOWADAYS
My eyes dropped tears but I quickly wiped it , it wasn't time to cry , I hided the letter in my backpack and went outside. I found Manny sitting on the front porch , he stood up when he saw me.
« Come here »he said . He opened his arms and made a sign that's for a hug . If it was on other basic day, I would said no. But I didn't refuse it.
« Im so sorry for yelling at you the other day, you were right about it , I should ha... »
« That's okay Manny»
«So what are you gonna do now? »
« What do you mean? »
« I know you , you're not letting this guy living » he said like it was a random fact. Which it was , of course I was not letting this guy living his life « hey listen...I promised Tony that I would take care of you at no matter price and I can't let you go »
« Thanks Manny but no , you can't stop me »
« Taylor you're not stupid, I mean think about it we're talking about scafs, we're talking about hundreds of them , and it's Carlos not any other guy , be reasonable » and here we go again , acting like my father . I sighted and said « This man had no right to kill him , it was so unfair, he never asked for all of this , he's gonna pay that's it »
« Well if you're so sure of yourself go! But don't say I didn't warn you »
« Whatever, good to see ya »
« Wait Taylor, stay at least for the funeral, don't do it for me do it for Tony »
I ended up accepting to stay . The next morning I wore an old black dress that I had . I decided to do a speech, he deserved it anyways. The house was crowded, all the people in there , no one really knew him they were all pretending to be sad . Tobey was with me the whole day.
« Tony Niller was the father I never had, he saved my life and gave me what I can call a home » my voice started slowly to crack and my throat was getting heavier « before starting this I want to thank all of you for being with us today . Tony was an incredible person, he always made sure that everyone was doing good . He saved a lot of life he even went to forget about his own . Saying he's now dead feels like a nightmare , life was unfair to him » that's when tears started running down my face « I watched him fading away slowly , Tony was someone to look up to and to follow...someone to admire and to be proud of...he...he was someone to hold and someone to learn from and to respect...someone to talk to, someone to...try and impress,and most of all...he was...»my hero, he was my hero, that what I wanted to say but I couldn't, it was killing me to describe him with was . I took a deep breath and carried on « Tony always made su...sure that I belonged to the Nillers...he always protected me...and... » I could barely talk , I couldn't do it anymore , I ran away to my room and locked it. I wanted Tony to be here with me , I was so angry , he was innocent Which made me even angrier, he didn't deserve any of this shit.
Later in the night , Tobey entered the room and brought food with him.
« Everyone left, Marine cleaned up everything and brought food also, Jackie told me to give you this money » I just nodded. He was about to leave .
«Hey... »I cleaned my throat « Ca...can you Stay with me? » Besides all the people in this world , Tobey was the only person I wanted to be with .
We slept next to each other on my bed , he looked so peaceful , so calm , like life was doing on its best those days.
The night felt like a week , I couldn't sleep , the minute I closed my eyes , pictures of Tony covered with blood pops up. I went downstairs to the kitchen , made a coffee and went to the living room . I wasn't gonna sleep anyways, it's better to start my research about this Carlos and the Scafs.
