CHAPTER TWELVE

2014
The lady's name was Isabel . I was playing with her daughter in her room when someone knocked at the door .
« Excuse me sir , who are you? »
« Im Tony and Im looking for a little girl , this tall, a little bit annoying , she has freckles and brown hair, did you saw her by any chance? »
I went downstairs to see the man . It was Tony, I ran into him and hugged him
« Tony! You're alive »
« Yeah...Im alive good guess Sherlock »
The lady proposed to Tony to stay . He took a shower and changed his clothes.
I was playing with the little girl and Isabel and Tony were on the living room, I heard Tony saying that it was best if I stay with Isabel.
« I just , I can't risk her life again, she will be better here , her mom is too far and I don't even think she's still alive »

Later that day , Tony came to the room and Isabel told her daughter to let us alone.
« Hey kiddo »
« If you want to ditch me then ditch me I don't want to hear your stupid speech »
He sat on the bed « Well...you were right you're not stupid for a ten years old... »
« Surprise »
«What did you exactly heard? »
« almost everything, especially It's best if I stay here with Isabel and that you will not take me to Revena »
« I was just thinking... »
« What are you so afraid of? That I die ? I can take care of myself, I just saved your life»
« You risked your life because of me , I don't want to have someone else death on my head, you're just a kid your life hasn't even began, you'll be safer with Isabel »
« Tony shut up! Don't tell me that I'll be safer with Isabel because in reality I'll be just more scared , you promised me that you're going to take me to my mom , deal with your responsibilities »
« I DON'T WANT YOU TO END UP LIKE STE... »
« Like who? »
he stopped and drew his breath in « ...you know what never mind » he got up and opened the door « if you want to find your mother go , Im not gonna help you » he left the room leaving me like a stupid.
I didn't know what to do , Isabel was a nice person but I couldn't stay there with her.
I woke up the next morning, I was expecting that Tony already left , but he didn't he was talking with Isabel.
« ...you might not be her father but you're someone to her , I know it's none of my business but if there's someone she trust , it's you , I saw how worried she was about you... » that's all what I heard about their discussion. Then they stopped talking and I heard footsteps coming and someone knocked at the door.
« Hey kiddo , can we talk? » I pretended to be asleep « I know you're awake come on »
I sat up straight and Tony took a chair and sat next to me.
He sighed and said« there's no story, Tess and Steven died the same day I met you , I tried my best to protect them , but I was too slow , this scar came from the man who killed them » he cleaned his throat « The blood on my shirt was Steven's. when I saw you , I felt the need to help you, your face was somehow familiar » he drew his breath in « it's not fair , for your age to experience this , once again it was my fault, when you shot at the guy, it was my fault, I was too slow to react » I felt him putting the guilt on him « all I do is fail , and people get hurt , I don't want you to be end up like Tess or Steven »
« It's not gonna happen, don't worry , we're doing alright so far , it's not three or four miles who's gonna stop us » I said and smiled at him.
« Then go get ready, we have a mom to find » he said smiling back.
We got ready and left Isabel's house . Tony turned and faced me « If you want to find your mom , there is some rules you gotta follow » his voice turned serious when he said it « First, you don't bring the past , especially not mine we don't talk about Tess or Steven anymore, and what happened here stays here, you hear me? » I nodded « second , you don't use my gun anymore and don't took it from me. Third , we have to hurry, the more we're slow the more we have chances to die. And lastly , I took you to your mom and we're done , okay? »
« Yes sir » I said .
