According to legend, the Hylians were among their first creations of the holy Goddess Hylia, thus bearing her name. Hylian civilization began prior to those of the other races, who only came into existance a few years later.

Unlike the Zonai who settled in the realms above, the Hylians were not technologically advanced and commenced their civilization through farming and scattering themselves among the regions. Rather than one large kingdom, which was founded many years later, the early Hylians tended to themselves and their small village communities.

It was in their culture to remain true to their creator, the Goddess Hylia. It didn't matter if they had an abundant harvest or endured a terrible drought, the Hylians would continue to worship Hylia no matter what. Aside from that, their society and way of life varied between regions.

The Hylians who occupied the south-eastern regions were generally more open and friendly who constructed lively villages with people who were like a big, happy family. Meanwhile the North-Western Hylians were a tough and reserved folk, who worked hard to provide for themselves. The Hylians of the East were a wise bunch who cultivated prosperous crops and kept their people well educated for ancient standards. The Hylians from the South-Western regions were famed for their power, as well as their incredible historical records which had been preserved for eons. Central Hylians were viewed upon as the pious ones, with a booming population and stronger connection to the Goddess.

The Hylians who inhabited the North-Eastern regions were quiet, independant individuals who fabricated the closest thing Hyrule ever had to a kingdom before the founding of the true Kingdom of Hyrule. Contact with the North-Eastern people was scarce, yet people around the land had heard of the word that they were the most beautiful people in Hyrule. Last but not least, the folks who dwelt in the lands to the west were a resourceful and artistic bunch. They knew how to be wise with their limited resources, however that couldn't prevent them from having a small population.

It wasn't until the official establishment of the Kingdom of Hyrule that the Hylian people began to unite and become a single civilization. Although this chapter has been short, I can confirm that the different groups of ancient Hylians had been researched by the Zonai Survey Team and will each hold their own chapters that will allow us to share far more information regarding these unique tribes.
