July 2nd-4th, 2018

Lucia gaped at the huge house, her feet rooted to the gravel. "Taylor, this place is incredible."

The blonde walked up beside her, her suitcase scraping the ground as she went. "I love it. It's my favorite place, besides the West Village."

"I like New York City in general." Lucia pushed forward, looking back at Taylor for permission to open the door. Taylor nodded and Lucia stepped inside.

The house was beautifully decorated- and covered in red white and blue. Lucia had never celebrated American Independence Day before, so the over the top festivities were a little overwhelming.

"This place is fucking amazing!" Mila squealed running inside with her squeaky suitcase.

"She's right, Taylor this place is awesome." Lucia gave the blonde a smile. "Where should we put our things?"

"Greg could do that for you." Taylor smiled as the tall man stopped to enter the mansion.

"I appreciate the offer, but I'll do it." Lucia hated handouts. Even though her family was relatively well off, she'd always worked for what she wanted and she didn't want anyone helping her along the way.

"You guys are sharing the room all the way down the hall to the right. It's next to the master where Joe and I will be." Taylor seemed to say his name louder, as if it would scare Lucia away.

Lucia nodded in thanks before following her instructions to the room. The fact that it was a guest room was not evident.

The floor to ceiling windows showcased the beautiful view of the coast, sun shining across the water. The bed was like something out of a fairytale- tall and grandiose, with dark purple curtains drawn open to reveal the floral bedspread.

Mila sat down on a fluffy armchair, dropping her suitcase next to her. "Dude. She is so fucking rich," Mila giggled.

"Yeah. Fucking hell," Lucia gaped as she sat her bag down gently.

"So. She's still with that British asshole."

"You're British, Mils." Lucia rolled her eyes.

"Whatever. I thought they were on the edge of a break up?" Mila leaned forward, resting her head in her hands.

"They were. But she said she 'couldn't do it,' whatever that means." Lucia sighed.

"This cat and mouse is confusing. It's making my head hurt, watching you run after her like a lost puppy." Mila put her hands tightly on Lucia's shoulders. "Snap out of it, bitch."

"I'm not into her. I'm just confused."

"You tried to kiss her this morning, you are more than into her." Mila chuckled.

The next few days were spent setting up the party as people arrived. Lucia and Taylor hardly spoke, Taylor avoiding the brunette like the plague after Lucia tried to make a move.

One moment though, the night before the party, thoroughly confused Lucia.

Lucia sat on the deck, watching the sunset over the ocean with a glass of wine in her hand when Taylor opened the screen door.

"Hey, Lucy." Taylor sighed, sitting in a rocking chair to her right.

"Evening, Tay." Lucia smiled, turning to look at the blonde.

"I want to thank you for being here."

"I'm the one who should be thanking you, Taylor." Lucia laughed. "This place is gorgeous."
