Out of nowhere, a powerful roar could be heard from the other side of the cave. The roar belonged to the hungry bear as it walked towards them. "Cody!" But behind the bear was his family, ready to save Cody from the hungry bear. But the noise had woke up the dragon fully and the dragon rose from its slumber, shaking off whatever had covered it during its sleep. But Cody had managed to hold onto the dragon's scaly neck.
All of the sudden noises had overwhelmed the dragon, the cavern shook as the dragon rose to her feet and spread her wings majestically. She glared at the bear and robots with fierce anger, her teeth bared in a savage growl.
"Cody!" Heatwave said protectively as he stepped towards them.
But when the dragon roared, her roar echoed through the cave and caused some debris to fall down. Her roar made the air tremble and echoed through the carven. Everyone's words were drowned out as the dragon roared. Lightning crackled off of her scales, filling the room with bright flashes of lightning. Her roaring and electricity had caused the bear to scramble away from the fight. Around the same time, the dragon flew away from them with surprising agility and speed. But the dragon didn't notice that Cody was still riding her nor did she heard Cody's screaming or Cody's family's yelling for him.
Cody took a deep breath before the dragon jumped into the mountain river, he felt himself shivering as the icy water washed everywhere around him. Cody felt like he was panicking already. When he barely thought about swimming into inky blackness with no idea if he'd ever breathe again, his whole body tightened with fear. He was surprised by the sudden warm sensation that he felt coming from the dragon underneath him. He felt the current tugging him and the dragon.
With a few swift kicks, the dragon swam to the hole and grabbed the rocks on either side to brace herself. She folded her wings tightly to her body and snaked her head through the hole. Her shoulders followed, then her wings, scraping painfully against the rocks. Her front talons found a lip of rock ahead of her and she seized it, pulling herself forward. A moment later, Cody and the dragon felt the air suddenly yawn wide in front of the duo. The dragon and Cody were both standing in front of the waterfall. The waterfall crashed underneath the dragon and the boy, cascading into a foamy pile of bubbles only a short distance below the duo's ledge. The river plunged out of the cave and straight down a tall, sheer cliff.
The sunlit entrance yawned in front of them, and then, abruptly, the dragon shot out into the open space.
The wind was soft against her scales, a feeling that she'd grown to enjoy. It didn't matter what others thought, a dragon, they could laugh all they want, make fun of her for all she cared. But the fact stood strong; she enjoyed the sky. It had been there form birth, a natural sense of connection to the vast blue ocean that lay above her each day.
The dragon was joyfully aware of the wind all around her. She could takes the cloud spray and smell the raw, endless sky. She heard the rush of the air as it parted to make for her body.
She was soaring.
She pumped her wide wings up and down, enjoying the way she pushed the air around, currents tense and smooth as water, the tips of her wings brushing lightly against the sky. She stretched them out to their fullest span, so that she could see the sun glinting blue of the scales underneath her wings.
She felt at home in the skies, ducking and diving through the clouds. The warmth she felt in her chest as she flapped her wings, watching the land below, it was a sense that she enjoyed, a feeling that just gave her great joy. She felt free up there, alongside the birds and the other creatures that ruled the skies.
But the joy had disappeared as quickly as it came. Torrents of rain poured down from the stormy skies. Dark storm clouds swirled in the sky, flashing with swift lightning and rumbling with powerful thunder. It was early in the afternoon, the sun was peaking out of the departing dark clouds. Tucked into his riding position, Cody appears to be part of the dragon. She jackknife, heading upward, rolling and tumbling through the stormy cloud-scapes and joining high-flying a flock of startled birds as she soar in formation.
The dragon roared once again, but this time she sounded more desperate and agitated about the situation. The dragon angled her wings upwards and begins to ascend higher and higher. It is a strain on her wings, but she has just had a long rest and she feels a foregin sense of fear, she wants to push herself and let out all of this excess energy that she is feeling.
"Please calm down!" Cody's voice sounded worried, desperate as he continued to ride the scared dragon. But the dragon remained agitated and didn't hear anything from Cody.
