Shoto, his mother, and his sister were making muffins together in the kitchen. They were technically making a pack for the Midoriya family, to give to their in-laws, especially Itsumi. Well, it's supposed to be a night out for Natsuo and Itsumi and Natsuo would give it to her then, but it's all the same thing.
Even though Shoto was doing his best and making the least, he was proud of how much progress was made. And if Itsumi didn't like it, he'd gladly eat it instead. The muffin had reduced sugar, less chocolate, more vanilla, no strawberry, and pure white icing without sprinkles. He'd eat that muffin way better than anyone else would.
Shoto was making another pack of icing when a flash of light came his way and he flinched, turning in the direction. "Nee-san..what are you doing?" he asked when he realized Fuyumi had taken a picture of him. "You look so cute, Sho! I had to take a picture~" She said with a small squeal.
Rei leaned in to see the picture in Fuyumi's phone, "Nice photo, dear," she said, with a small, tender smile. "Thanks, Mom!" Fuyumi said, showing the phone to Shoto, "Wanna see?" she asked.
Shoto looked at the picture of himself with his black shirt completely whitened with all the flour, he looked so focused. Shoto didn't think he'd ever seen himself focused on something so hard. Honestly, he looked like he was trying to impress someone, and impress someone he was indeed trying to impress his soon sister-in-law and all. Shoto squinted his eyes and pursed his lips while sticking out his tongue in the photo.
In other words, a person who many individuals would think is adorable while engaging in such activity. It's not needed or required, but it could still be achievable.
Shoto shrugged. It wasn't that Fuyumi wasn't good at taking the picture; it was him in it. The sound of the microwave's chime caught the attention of Shoto and the two women and they turned their heads towards it. Shoto hurried to get his batch out, his batch.
Rei prevented him from touching it without gloves and reminded him to put them on first. Shoto did so and took his batch of muffins out. They were hot and steamy and he placed them on the counter. Fuyumi and Rei leaned in from either side of Shoto, "Ooh~" Fuyumi murmured, snapping a picture.
"And what's that for?" Rei asked, sweetly. "Oh, Natsuo would want it for his Instagram," Fuyumi said, making Rei nod in understanding. Shoto's muffins after the last four batches were finally perfectly baked. It was a light yellowish-golden white cake and more gold towards the bottom. Shoto knew there was a bit of dark chocolate in the middle due to him putting it in earlier.
A smile crept up on his face and he turned his head to Rei, "Can I take it out?" he asked. The curvature of his lips was proportionate, not too wide, as his eyelids lowered in contentment.
The look on Rei's face was tender and affectionate but also looked like she wished she'd seen Shoto's current expression more often...guilty..? Her face morphed into a guilty, tender smile. "Let it cool down for five minutes, Shoto," she said, putting her hand on Shoto's back. Shoto nodded, the smile still present and may have even widened.
Fuyumi awed Shoto and she ruffled his hair. The three were engrossed in conversation, which quieted when they heard the front door open. "I'm Home," A low, deep, hoarse voice spoke with determination and a desire for improvement, which was obviously Enji.
He walked past the kitchen, "Oh, Shoto, you're here," he said, making Shoto look back at his puffins and he pushed it to a side so Enji couldn't see most of it, thinking he'd judge him for it. "Yeah, I came over," Shoto replied, pursing his lips.
Shoto looked back at Enji, who smiled at him similar to Rei's, but he looked like he was trying his very best to come off as less mean...or rather come off as a diligent father.
