You walked through the halls of your school. Passing groups of girls laughing with each other and two boys throwing a football back and forth. You passed lockers with spray paint on them. You paused and read what it said. 'Carrie White eats shit.' was sprawled over the lockers. A frown played on your lips, you never understood why everyone made fun of poor Carrie. She was so pretty. You've had a little crush on her since you first came to school, you two shared a few classes together, including gym. You'd always sneak looks at her, not wanting anyone to see. You loved the way her long strawberry blonde hair flowed over her shoulders and the way her blue eyes sparkled in the sun. You were snapped out of your Carrie induced coma by Chris. Chris was the queen bee type of chick, you hated how rude she was to Carrie. Chris's sharp shoulder hit yours, making you turn you head in her direction. Chris had a scowl on her face as she looked at you over the shoulder she hit you with. You furrowed your brows as you walked to the library.
You were looking in the horror section of the library. You had Stephen King's 'The Shinning' in your hands. As you were flipping through the book to the place you were at, a familiar scent caught your attention. The fresh floral scent brought your eyes to Carrie. Your eyes widened slightly as your cheeks flushed. Maybe you'd finally talk to her. You followed her with your eyes. Carrie walked over to the table in the back on the library and sat down. As she got comfortable in her seat she must've noticed your staring as she looked up at you. You ripped your head back to your book. Your face got warmer and your heart fluttered. After working up a bit of courage you walked over to Carrie. Her hair covered her face as she looked down at the book on the table. "Hey, Carrie." you said quietly so you wouldn't get yelled at by the librarian. She looked up at you, her eyes wide. She probably thought you were going to make fun of her. "H-Hello." she spoke shyly as her eyes darted around your face. You smiled slightly "I thought you looked pretty lonely over here and was wondering if I could maybe sit with you." you said with very little confidence. Carrie was shocked. Everyone thought she was a freak. She could say anything but she motioned to the seat beside her. Your small smile grew wider as heat flushed your cheeks again. You sat down, setting your bag down by your feet.
You looked over at Carrie, thinking she would be back to reading. But you were now face to face with her. You bit the inside of your cheek slightly as your eyes widened, your face now beet red t this point. "Your face... are you alright?" Carrie asked with concern, her brows furrowed as she observed you. "Yeah!" you yelped, your hand flew up to your mouth. Carrie chuckled as she shook her head slightly. You covered your face out of embarrassment. "I'm so sorry. I didn't mean to say it that loud." you said quietly "I've just wanted to be able to talk to you for a while now." you admitted as your hands slipped off you face and into your lap. Your head hung low. "Really?" Carrie said as she looked at you in bewilderment, she never thought she'd hear somebody say the to her. "Uh... Yeah." you said as you looked up, one eyebrow raised "Why?" Carrie asked. "Well you seem really nice. And you're really pretty." you said the second part very, very quietly "What was that?" Carrie asked. "Nothing!" you said quickly as you shook you head rapidly. Carrie looked at you with suspicion "Okay..." she said with a small smile.
You didn't know but you talking to her that day was like an answered prayer to her. She's liked you since you first smiled at her in class. "Hey Carrie?" you said after the one to two minutes of silence between you "Yes?" Carrie answered, her voice of velvet brushed your ears once again. "Would you want to, I don't know, hang out sometime?" you asked her, your fingers crossed behind your back. Carrie smiled the biggest smile she's ever smiled in her life. "Yes!" she said excitedly, she quickly covered her mouth the same way you did earlier, a small laugh leaving her lips afterwards. You chuckled at how cute she was. You quickly scribbled down your number and address on a scrap piece of paper and handed it to her. She put it in her bag just as the bell for class rang. A smile danced on your lips as you both said goodbye to each other, you watched her walk out of the library. "Yes!" you whispered as you grabbed your bag and headed to class.
