*Sophies POV*
I didn't like what I had to do. I didn't want the humans to succeed, yet I had a soft spot for Nate. I wanted to help him, conversely I knew in doing so, I would be destroyed. Even worse, my family would be destroyed.
Being here, already felt like they were.
I didn't want to disappoint the master, but I had to do what had to be done. The kiss that I had just given Nate was still lingering on my lips. That longing for more but knowing it's not possible. Love doesn't exist here. Love can't exist where hate exists, at least not in my knowledge. If that were the case, what was this strange feeling?
I stepped into the hallway, making sure to lock Nate's door behind me. I'm lucky I found him before anyone else, otherwise I would have had to call the alert, which would have been disastrous. I was already being watched more closely, I didn't need to fuel to the fire, so to speak.
Nate was a firecracker, and I had to watch him. I didn't need the angels getting a hold of the final key. They already had the others, why did they need to take him too?
Stop it, Sophie. He's not your possession. You don't deserve to have someone as good as Nate. There's no hope for you.
Finally realising these thoughts might essentially be true, that I'm not good enough to deserve someone. I slumped down the hallway towards impending doom.
