I wake up hearing laughter coming from downstairs, what the hell is the time. I look at my phone and notice it's bloody 10:00am, I RUNNING SO FUCKING LATE. I jump out of bed and find something suitable to wear to my first day of training, I find a sports bra with some leggings and with a baggy t-shirt that I put into my tote bag. I quickly brush my teeth, do my hair and skincare head downstairs. "Morning sleepyhead, where heading to the club in 5." Nick says to me, I give him a dopey smile. I quickly pour myself some cereal and eat it so quickly that I felt like I ate it in the span of 3 seconds. "Come on guys, let's go!" Josh scouts from the front door, I pick my bag up and put my runners on, and putting my boots into my bag with my mouthguard. I walk down to the door where I see Nick and Josh standing there, Josh opens the garage door and hops into the driver's seat. I get into the back and grab my phone out of back, I scroll through my instagram until I head Nick ask "You nervous? If you are don't worry about it, the girls are super nice trust me!" I try to think hard about my answer so I don't sound like a idiot "Well I'm more nervous to stand up in front of the whole club to get my guernsey, but I'll be okay." I answer back to Nick, he gives me a beautiful smile. Fuck why is his smile just so adorable.
We make it to the club and Josh drives around to the club parking. He parks and we hop out of the car walking towards the club. The glass doors open and walk through to the main hallway, holy shit this is really happening! "I'll take you to the AFLW club room, it's near the netball courts." Nick offers, I nod my head and we walk and talk together. We make it to the rooms and Nick waves bye to me, I head into the rooms and see all the girls talking to each other. "OMG YOU MUST ME GEORGIE, WELCOME TO THE MAGPIE ARMY!" I hear a girl say, "Oh forgot to introduce myself, Ruby. Ruby Schleicher, I'm one of the amazing girls who play for the pies!" She gives me hug and shows me around the facility's "Okay now, we are gonna get your kit. What size are you?" She asks me digging through some boxes of pies kit "Size S" I answer back. She gets everything out for me including a, training top, polo top, hoodie, trackies, shorts, leggings, socks, backpack, water bottle, hat, and scarf. "Wow that's a lotte of stuff!" I laugh, she smiles and gives me a small nod. I get dressed into my new and improved kit and head back to the locker room. "Hey! The presentation is in 5 minutes so we should probably start heading there!" Ruby says to me while pulling me along into the gym/netball court. All the girls follow us and we all sit in a seat, we see all the boys start coming in and Nick gives me a smile, I smile back. "Oooo what's up with you and Whisper? Got a bit of a crush?" Ruby whistles, I shove her and we just burst into laughter.
"Welcome to the 2023 draft and trade presentation! We are very proud of you all and cannot wait to see how you work and play this year!" The CEO of Collingwood says to us, he calls the new draftys and trades one by one to collect their jerseys. "And finally, with the number 35 jumper for the AFLW I would like to welcome up Georgie Cadman, Nick Daicos will be presenting the jumper." The CEO says. OMG, I have the same number as Nick. HOW IS THIS POSSIBLE, I get up and walk down to the platform, I shake my hand with the CEO and get a photo with him, I walk up to my new coach and shake his hand, and finally Nick holding my guernsey. He gives me the iconic Nick Daicos smile and holds one side of the guernsey and I hold the other we smile into the camera and I give Nick a hug. I take my guernsey back up to my seat and sit down next to Ruby and Imogen. The presentation finally finishes and we head back to our locker rooms, it's time to head home. I grab my back and all my new kit and head out, I say bye to all the girls and head to the car. I see Nick already at the car, "Where's Josh, he coming?" I ask Nick, "Annalise picked him up, there going out for dinner!" He says while opening the car door for me, "Thank you." He smiles and as always and hops into the driver seat. He starts the engine and we start to head home.
I throw my things onto my bed, decide to go back downstairs to see what Nick was up to. I walk out my room and see a figure in Nick's room, it's obviously Nick. I know of the wall and he looks up from his phone, I walk into his room and sit next to him on the bed. "So, how was your day?" I ask Nick in awkward way, "It was good! I just did some training, a bit of weight lifting and just some recovery. How about you, how was your day? Looked like you made friends with Ruby?" He asks me back "My day was also good, just met some of the girls and yeah Ruby. She's really sweet and then we did some training, also isn't it cool that we have the same number, 35!" I say excitedly, he gives me a huge smile. I can feel my face go red, I'm pretty sure he noticed, shit. We decided to head downstairs and watch a movie. I start to feel tried and put my head down on a pillow for a bit of a sleep, but it wasn't a pillow it was Nick's leg, well I didn't know that.
I can feel my body getting lifted up from the warm couch being taken up stairs. Someone places me on my bed and puts the covers over me. I open my eyes slightly and see Nick standing there shirtless, what he shirtless before. I give him a smile and I mange to get out a little "Thank you.." and then I drift off to sleep.
