You and I at the bar
After a long day
Drink after drink
Our eyes kept meeting
LinkedCatching glimpses of your lips
Between exchanging glances
My heart fluttered
Like a million butterflies
Waiting to be freedYou kissed me then
Taste of expensive beer
On my lips
Cheap whiskey
On yours
Your hand grasping my shirt
For if I would even think of runningWhat a fool I would've been
We paid our tabs
Out into the late night April air
Avoiding the ice
Passing the snowYour hand
Interlinked with mine
Leading me
Towards your carA surprise awaits
Is what you told me
One to surely surprise me
Is what you guaranteedOur lips met once more
As the rear door opened
Your hands on my face
Pulling me inwards
Like the sirens of mythOur actions there
Were not quite the making of love
But it would have been enough
And was enough
For the gods above to blush
