Pete was only an hour into his journey when it suddenly started raining. There was light thunder and small lightning from time to time.

The atmosphere was so peaceful, Pete couldn't help but think of how his own life had turned out. Tears again started making their way down Pete's face, he hated his life, he hated everyone and everything.

He didn't understand why he was still here... Just suffering through all this pain. He was only still here for his grandma who is his second mom. The only one who cares, loves, and supports him unconditionally, she is the only reason he is alive til now.

Pete's POV

I can't keep doing this to myself, forcing myself to believe my life will change. It will never change, I'm ruined, I'm broken, and I deserve no happiness, why won't you just take me? I'm ready to leave this world. I don't belong here.

No one's POV/Time skip

Pete was now a few minutes away from his destination, he noticed it was somewhere new. As he pulled into the driveway, he smiled seeing his grandma standing in the doorway. He got out and ran into her embrace.

Time skip

Pete: And that's what happened

Grandma: Aww, my poor baby, I'm so sorry that happened to you, I didn't know my son was like that.

Pete: It's okay nanna, I get it.. Their only son is different, plus mom was hoping for a grandchild.

Grandma: No Pete, that's no reason for them to disregard you as their son, and I will make sure my son never hits you again.

Pete: No nanna, then they'll know I'm here

Grandma: didn't you notice I moved, no one but you knows I live here, I would like to keep it this way too

Pete: hahaha okay nanna

Grandma: Now.. Let's go bake some cookies, I know you missed them right?

Pete: you know me so well.

The next day

It was midnight, and Pete was coming back from the convenience store because his grandma had caught a high fever but had no medicine in the house.

Since it was close, he decided to walk, the cold breeze relaxed him. The streets were dull, with no movement other than the trees nearby dancing with the wind.

It was quiet, calm, peaceful! A little too peaceful! All of a sudden, Pete heard footsteps nearby. He thought nothing of it until he noticed they were going in the same direction as him. He felt like someone was following him so he listened to his gut and changed his course of direction.

The footsteps also changed directions. Pete had really good hearing as if it was a superpower. He pointed out that the unknown person was following him from a distance so he thought to try and lose them.

He took a deep breath before he started running his fastest, he took turns that he knew would lead him home. He could hear the steps also running behind but they were getting further and further away.

His grandma lived in a neighborhood where all of the houses had fences or gates. Making sure the area was clear, he climbed through a hole in his neighbor's fence then quickly jumped the gate and went through the back door. He locked all doors and windows as he made sure the lights were off. He was peeking through his room window and saw a figure walking up and down the street, he could tell the figure was a man. He had on all black and his face was covered with a mask.

Pete couldn't see much but, he could pick up a few details that would help him recognize if this were to happen again. He had long black hair and was tall. Pete was peeking out of the window for almost an hour watching this unknown person strolling up and down their neighborhood. When he finally left, Pete went to his grandma's room to check on her.

He saw her peacefully sleeping, he got a wet cloth and placed it on her forehead. After making sure she was okay for the night, he went to his room, changed into comfortable clothes then went to sleep.

The next day

Pete woke up early, he went to his grandma's room seeing she was still asleep. His intrusive thoughts came through as he went to her and checked her pulse, he was relieved when her breathing was still at a normal pace. He went downstairs to make breakfast.

Pete's POV

Hm.. Let's give Nanna breakfast in bed. What should I cook? Eggs with waffles and bacon? Maybe a fruit bowl with oatmeal? Wait no, nanna is sick! Ughhh now what to make? Oh, I got it, I'll make her favorite porridge with a glass of fresh water.

After some time, I finished my task and took the tray upstairs. I saw Nanna sitting up, then she looked at me and smiled.
