By the end of July, work had become a true plague for Doyun. Every day, she couldn't wait until the clock struck the end of her last hour to go to the beach with her friends – or go back to her room if she had worked the evening shift.

And the fact that Danielle and Hyein, along with her brother, went back to Seoul after their small vacation, meant that there weren't that many people to talk to except for Jungwon. The girl could have sworn that by the end of the Summer holiday, she would have hated the boy for his continuous bad jokes and pranks.

Lately, the bar felt more lonely than usual, despite it being July which meant that more and more tourists visited the island. Her days were filled with filling cold drinks and cutting watermelons, bringing them to tables, and repeating them for hours.

Her gaze fell on a table in the corner of the room, where a certain someone would spend his whole days writing music. Ever since the party, Doyun never saw him again, nor his friends.

While contemplating her last minutes of work for the day, she wondered the reason behind his sudden disappearance. After all the time they had spent together at the party, she couldn't help but imagine if he had left the Resort without giving her a proper explanation, or if she was just overthinking it.

Inside of her, it was all still a mess. She was glad she could spend more time with Hanbin, restoring their friendship as it was before, but deep down Doyun wondered where Jake was.

She couldn't help but think about him every one of her dull days behind that counter.

"The clock is pretty, right?" The voice of her friend took her back to reality as she side-eyed him while he was wiping a plate. He watched her confused expression as he nodded to the clock, "Your shift ended 10 minutes ago, is the clock that interesting?"

She shook her head, removing the apron tied around her waist. Before she could put it away, Jungwon stole it from her, "Give me that, I'll put it away. Go home, you look tired as hell!"

He was able to raise a laugh from her. He wasn't wrong though, that shift had been a tiring one! Usually, Doyun could roughly remember how many customers she had served, but that day they were so many that even she lost track of the number. She waved to Jungwon, leaving him alone in the bar to finish his afternoon shift.

As soon as Doyun stepped out of the small bungalow, the striking light of the afternoon Sun hit her face, making her cover her eyes with her hands. She had no idea what to do since all of her friends were still working and Minji and Haerin probably weren't there.

With nothing better to do, Doyun decided to call them, asking them if they would have liked to hang out in the afternoon.

She sat down on a lounge chair not far from the bar and she grabbed her phone from the back pocket in her shorts. She dialed Minji's number first, bringing the overheated phone next to her ear.
