CHARITY
This was intense.
I don't think I have ever seen girls throw themselves at a boy more than the girls in Chiapas.
That's a lie. They do this in the United States too, but I guess they try to have more verbal wit with their finesse. The girls here just blatantly say it.
Cash, Vini, Pheebs, and I were the only ones who could translate the wild things they were saying to Terrance. Meanwhile, he is just politely smiling and looking at them with amusement.
Phoebe was sitting next to him so she would lean over and whisper in his ear, telling them the promiscuous things they were insinuating.
I didn't think it would bother me, but my stupid brain was still jumbled from getting knocked in the head with a volleyball. I bit my bottom lip and watched with slight annoyance, but I tried to play it off with a gentle smile every once and a while.
Cash was sitting next to me and he immediately noticed something was wrong.
Cash and I had built a relationship in the past two weeks. He was cool and encouraging, which was refreshing. Unlike Henry, Cash was actually funny and genuinely enjoyed helping people. I'm glad that we met because I think we are gonna be the kind of friends that last for years.
"What ruffled your feathers?" He asked, nudging me a bit. "You look standoffish."
I looked down at my demeanor and with folded arms and turned away, I did look off for sure.
I sighed and answered, "Since I got hit in the head, I have been super off."
"Are you okay?" He tilted his head, looking at me in concern. "We can go back so you can lay down."
I nodded my head with an authentic grin. "No need. I'm fine. I promise. Just off."
"Okay, but will you let me know if you want to head back? I promise it's not a big deal. We will be here all summer."
"I will, Cash, I appreciate that."
My stomach immediately turned sour when I saw Terrance throw his arm around the back of Phoebe's chair as he laughed at one of his jokes. (22)
I am not into Terrance, I am not into him, I swear I am not. But there is something that made my nerves spike at the sight of it.
They weren't flirting and I knew that because Phoebe is happily in love with her boyfriend Tyler, so I shouldn't have been concerned. Honestly, I should not have been worried in the first place because it is not any of my business.
Even the other SV, Sheila, who looks like an Instagram baddie and is super nice to everyone was feeling Terrance.
She was the one to retrieve the shots for the table and I made a mental note that she handed him a shot glass and then seductively rubbed his chest a bit.
Terrance stared at her with a confusing expression. I couldn't tell if he liked it or if he thought it was strange. Either way, I shouldn't have been paying attention.
It made me feel better when Cash leaned over and whispered to me, "What was that about?"
I was glad that I wasn't the only one who noticed their interaction. I bit my bottom lip harder before I realized I would draw blood if I continued. I picked up my shot and then tossed it to the back of my throat. I turned and then grabbed Cash's shot to consume as well.
He doesn't drink and already gave me permission to have his. Although at the time, I declined the offer, I didn't realize how much I would need it until now.
