Weeks had gone by since Hyunjae told me how he felt, and agreeing to give our relationship another chance made me feel lighter. We both wanted to take it slow and see where things went, trying to rebuild what we had before.

One afternoon, my phone buzzed with a text from Hyunjae. “Hey, there’s a new perfume shop downtown. Want to check it out together?”

I smiled and replied, “Sure, that sounds fun! When and where should we meet?”

We decided to meet later that day. When I walked into the perfume shop, I felt a mix of excitement and nervousness. Spending time with Hyunjae felt both familiar and new, and I wondered what might happen next.

I saw Hyunjae already inside, looking at the perfume bottles. His smile made me feel more at ease.

“Chanhee,” he said warmly. “I’m glad you could make it.”

I smiled back. “Of course, Hyunjae. I’m excited to see what this place has.”

We spent time exploring the shop, trying out different scents, and laughing at our funny reviews of each one. It felt so natural, like we had never been apart.

When we reached the custom perfume section, Hyunjae looked at me with a playful grin. “Hey, why don’t we each create a scent that represents us? It could be a fun way to show who we are.”

I laughed. “You mean, like putting our essence in a bottle?”

He nodded. “Exactly.”

We spent time mixing different scents and helping each other find the right combinations. As we laughed and talked, I realized how much I missed our close friendship and feeling understood.

When we were happy with our perfumes, we stood together at the counter while the saleswoman prepared our bottles. Hyunjae handed me mine with a sweet smile.

“Chanhee, I know we’re taking it slow, but I wanted to give you something that shows our new start.”

I looked at the bottle and felt touched. “Thank you, Hyunjae. I really appreciate it.”

He gave me a soft kiss on the cheek. “I’m looking forward to every step of this journey with you.”

My heart raced at his words, and I couldn’t help but smile. “Me too, Hyunjae.”

As we left the shop, our hands brushed, and I felt a warmth I hadn’t felt in a long time. The future might be uncertain, but with Hyunjae by my side, I knew it was a journey worth taking.
