Sloane
He actually showed up. Looking a little worse for wear. His shirt, no matter how tight he's tucked it into his pants, you could see it was a little wrinkled. His stubble was a little messy, thicker than I'd seen it before. I was proud. Bringing a man who held his looks in such a high regard, He lint carries a lint roller and change of clothes in the boot of his car in case he spills a single drop of coffee on himself. I won't remind him of that. Not right now. He looks like he's tried his best to act like last night didn't happen.
He held the drink out for me, glaring at me as I took it from him with a smile.
"You really think that was funny?"
"Hilarious. So did Logan. Come to think of it, Eden fell of her chair laughing too."
"You told Logan?"
"Had to. He wouldn't stop calling. Was starting to think you'd murdered me and left me in a ditch."
"I wouldn- Okay. Fair concern. Are we heading inside?"
"I am. You're not."
"I brought you food."
"I told you I had a protein bar. I'm also not taking any food from you. You've probably laced it with something."
"And I wouldn't have laced your drink?" Good point. "I'm trying to apologise Sloane."
"You know what? On second thoughts. Maybe you should come inside. I've got a few reporters who would love to pick up the front page 'Reed Lawson apologizes for wrong doing'. I best order double the prints. It'll sell out 4 times over." My phone buzzed in my hand and I glanced down.
Zak (Gym) - What about dinner then if you're too busy for coffee? Or lunch....
"Logan?"
"Hm?" I looked back up at Reed. "Oh. No. Someone else. What exactly are you apologizing for Mr. Lawson?"
"Leaving you out there. I should have brought you back."
"So, you're not sorry for using me?"
"I told you at the start-"
"You also told me I was different and made you feel things you hadn't for anyone else. That if you could love anyone, it was me."
"Love doesn't exist Sloane."
"Not when you're running from it like an axe murderer it doesn't." I took a sip from my drink. "Look, whatever. Your love life is none of my business. Just don't go leaving any other girls in the middle of nowhere, think about their safety for just a second before you shatter their hearts. You owe them at least that." I raised the drink at him in thanks before walking towards the door.
"Sloane. Wait." He caught up with me in the reception space. "If mystery guy can't finish the job. Call me." I rolled my eyes, staring back into his to make sure my next words sunk in deep.
"Let me make this perfectly clear Mr Lawson. You could be the last man on earth. God could come down and guarantee me a life of ecstasy, everything I've ever dreamed off. Just to have sex with you once. And I would still, rather light myself on fire and drink a gallon of gasoline." His smirk vanished. "Clear enough for you?"
"Crystal."
"Good. Now. Have a lovely day Mr. Lawson. Don't forget about the suit you keep in the boot of your car for emergencies. You're looking like you spent the night on a sofa." I turned, smiling at the security guards before heading up to the office almost an hour late.
