Where had it all gone wrong? Only a few minutes ago it was all fine. Now the winged man was surrounded by ashes and rubble, destroyed and mangled biuldings, screams and cries of horror and fear. His surroundings turned into a scene you'd only ever see in apocalyptic movies. Yet despite all of the destruction, the thing that disturbed him to most was dead ahead of him. Through the stirring dust that had not yet settled, was something he had only ever seen in his nightmares...
"Touya..."
Keigo whispered, his voice a mere crack through his panting breaths.
A week or so earlier Hawks had received some shocking news from his current boyfriend, Dabi. During a heated argument the raven haired man had revealed something he hadn't intended. Not yet at least.
"Keigo, would you shut the fuck up foe two seconds!?"
He'd scream in frustrating, gripping tightly to his own hair so hard he could feel his staples strain.
"What did you say-..."
The hero dropped all aggression immediately, instead taking on a look of disbelief.
How did he know that name. No way he was really... The villain quickly realised his mistake, locking eye contact with the blond at a loss for words. They both knew in that moment, the secret was out.
Hawks had seen the similarities but chose to ignore them, there was no way Touya truly survived. They even had evidence, his jaw was left charred on that mountain. The quirk itself was similar but plenty of people had fire right? But those azure eyes, Keigo could spot them anywhere. The only difference was that Touya's used to shine with hope, now they were icy and cold, dim with anger and hatred. A hatred that Hawks was to learn about.
"Touya?"
The bird man would mumble, his words quiet but ringing loud in the ears of the scarred man in front of him.
"Let's sit down and talk"
Touya would order, keeping his own head dropped as he took a seat at the bar's booth.
The two spent hours sat on that bar, finally seeing eachother as they tuly were. All barriers had been thrown away, disgarded and irrelevant. Dabi and Hawks needed those guards to hide their own secrets, the secrets of Keigo and Touya.
Eventually, the two wound up sobbing into eachothers arms as if they were kids once again. They wept for hours, holding eachother close. A villain raised by a hero and a hero raised by a villain, how cruel of a fate. Never on the same side, even if they so desperateley wanted it... That would change soon enough. After hearing the atrocities the current number 1 had caused to his own family, the man the young Keigo admired so much and still did to this day. The reality was that he was no better than his own father.
