Chapter Eight

Emily felt Ric's heated gaze on her but refused to look at him. When she finished with his wounds she mummered a quick excuse and turn to leave. She needed to process everything that was happening in her life. The mental stress was a bit overwhelming. She didn't get very far until she felt his hand on her arm. He turned her to him and lifted her chin and just gazed at her. She couldn't help but feel uncomfortable his attention since she never had it before. Just then Tate came in and whispered something to him and left with Ric but not after he excused himself and gave her one last lingering glance. She decided to go to her room and relax. Scarlet came by later with dinner and said the guys were out dealing with an issue. Emily couldn't help but feel she was being a bit cryptic but said nothing. Instead the two chatted for a while and when Scarlet left she ate her dinner and took a warm bath. She was just drying her hair when she heard her door open and saw Ric step in. He looked freshly showered but she noticed he was unshaven and carried a tired look. He said nothing but made his way to sit on her bed. She walked in front of him waiting on him to say something but later she seemed to regret her wish.

For the pass hours Ric called himself every bad word known to man. He made a lot of mistakes in his life but sending Emily away was on top of the list. He knew it was ultimately for her safety but he couldn't help but feel like it was a wrong decision-that he should have gotten her input on his plan. Something wasn't right. His wolf was on edge. They both wanted their mate. Having marked her made being away that much harder. He wished he could go to her but knew that would be a problem. For now he busied himself gathering reinforcements from the various packs under the Order that were situated in Italy. He needed to be prepared in case Lief needed him. The war was on.

Angry is too mild of a word to describe what Emily was feeling. How dare Ric send her back to Italy! After all they went through these past days. He goes and shuts her out. He is so stubborn. He thinks he is protecting her but all he is doing is putting more strain on their already frail relationship. Her Coven couldn't protect her from the threat that loomed....no one could.....not even Ric. She was currently in a car driven by Zan. They were headed to the airport. Stupid Alpha! Just when she thought they were getting somewhere....after all he mark her!!!! She was so deep in her thoughts that when Zan stopped the car she started. In front of their car stood the vampire that kidnapped her!
