DEVASTUTI'S POV
By the time we reached home it was 9:15pm. Though it takes only 30 mins but evening traffic especially in India changes your plan.
Chitra paid the cab driver, thanked him and i suddenly felt something is gonna happen.
We all entered the mansion and saw the whole Shekhawat family present in the drawing room. They all stood up and came towards us as we entered and i could sense that the environment was very tense.
I saw my husband sitting at the corner of the sofa with his elder brothers, one leg on top of another, in formals with his shirt sleeves rolled up till his elbows, making him look worn out and hot at the same time.
Shut up stuti, this is not the right time to drool over husband, i mentally scolded myself.
Before anyone could speak a loud voice of an old woman was heard, I looked up saw dadi shouting at me
"WHERE DID YOU GO? WITH WHOSE PERMISSION DID YOU GO?"
"Dadi that-" chinu was a out say something when dadi showed her palm, telling her to not to speak anything.
"Chitra and Chinu beta, you girls go and take rest, both of you must be tired since you left for shopping at the afternoon and now it's night" dadi said to them in a polite way.
Everyone present there was very shocked with dadi's behaviour as it was biased towards her granddaughters. Chitra and Chinu themselves were shocked.
"And you, I asked you something, answe me. With whose permission did you go? Did you complete the houldhold chores, did you make dinner for us? dadi attacked me with her questions.
"I-i- was told that you all will be attending a dinner party and would have the dinner there itself."I explained myself while dadi was shaking her head with a disgusting expression formed on her face.
My husband whom I thought will support me was standing quietly in the corner with his hands inside his pockets.
"Yes dadi, it was me and chinu who compelled bhabhi to come with us otherwise she wasn't even interested. She told us that she had to prepare dinner and clean the house but we didn't listen to her and took her with us" chitra explained defending me.
But, when is this old hag ready to listen and believe something related to me. Shut up Stuti, I i again mentally scolded myself.
"No, chitra beta you don't need to defend this girl." dadi stated.
"Are you deaf ? Can you hear me, I asked you a question. Who gave you the permission to go with them?" dadi again asked me.
"ANSWER ME!!"
"I DID" came a hard voice from behind. I and everyone looked passed my husband who was in the corner and saw my papa their with a cold face.
"I gave the permission to Stuti to go with them" papa said while coming towards us.
"How dare you? Who are you to allow her to go out? asked dadi.
By the time dadi finished asking the question, papa was with us, between me and Chitra.
"I DO NOT NEED ANYONE'S PERMISSION. IT WAS ME WHO COMPELLED STUTI TO GO OUT WITH THEM" papa stated, shocking everyone because never in his life he has spoken like this to his mother. Dadi was furious listening her son speaking like this for me.
"You are disrespecting your mother Aryaman for this illiterate girl."
"MA" screamed both my in laws. " You cannot call our daughter illiterate" this time it was ma who spoke for me.
