He took this extra time to run a few errands, which he never really had time to do.

One of them was getting groceries, and since he had some extra hours, he was going to try and pick things that were healthy and could actually benefit him.

Usually, he would just quickly grab things that he already knows that are healthy or that he would eat, or just things that are easy to make.

But now, he had a little bit more time with Sonic being his only patient.

He drove to the grocery store, realizing that he wouldn't be able to get much.

His car was small and only had two seats.

The trunk was even smaller, as the sleek car needed room for what kept it running.

This is probably why he never really found himself eating when he was at home.

But before, he worked quite often, so he would only be home for about seven hours before returning back to his work.

He sighed at this realization, knowing that he basically had no free time.

No life.

It hurt a little bit, especially since it reminded him of what the nurse said.

"Do you live alone?" "Yes?" "That explains it."

He operated more like a robot than anything nowadays.

But he arrived at the grocery store, walking in.

He didn't feel rushed this time and actually walked around the store.

He went his normal route as if it was a normal day to get his rushed groceries out of habit.

He saw almost everything that he recognized before he started to wonder in other places.

He found different foods, even ones he had never heard of.

Would you believe Shadow if he told you he didn't know a dragon fruit existed?

But he did now, and he even picked some up to put in his basket.

He smelled the freshness of the fruits and veggies as he walked through the produce aisles.

It was strange for him.

It shouldn't be, as people go through these aisles every day.

He shook his head to himself and grabbed a few other things he found interesting or that he already liked.

But then, as he was walking through the bread aisle, he saw something extremely bright at the end of the aisle.

It had piqued his interest, so he obviously went towards it.

As he got closer, he found that it was a huge display of giant stuffed animals.

They were big and fluffy, and most of them were high up, probably so little kids couldn't just grab them.

He looked at them for a moment, being reminded.

He was being reminded of Sonic.

The thought of his blue patient even being in his brain left chills down his back.

He had never thought of a patient this way.

Oh, this is something they might like.

You do that for friends... family.

Lovers.

Not someone you were instructed to take care of.

He scoffed to himself, even though he continued to reach out and pet the stuffed animal's foot.

It was extremely soft, making his face numb.

He imagined Sonic wrapping himself around the large stuffie, a light smile on his face.

Shadow shook himself out of the trance, shrugging.

It was only twenty bucks.

He pulled at the leg, making it fall towards him.

The plush was stuffed to the brim, being extremely squishy and... full.

It made it difficult for Shadow to carry until he got a good grip on the chest area.

God, it was almost as tall as him.

But he managed to get to the checkout area nevertheless.

It was a little bit more expensive when he checked out, but he liked to see that.

He liked the change.

His life was such a routine until now, and it felt like a breath of fresh air.

It was an opportunity for him.

He headed home to put his groceries away, his fridge actually full for once.

He even realized that he had time to clean his fridge, which he did.

He didn't even have time to do basic chores.

But he also didn't have time to make a mess.

It was a strange... robotic medium.

Shadow went back out to his car to see if there were any more groceries.

He opened the door, just to be lightly startled by the giant stuffed animal in the passenger seat.

He smiled lightly, deciding to keep it there for tomorrow.

He entered back into his house, standing there.

He first checked the time.

It was only three...

What the hell was he going to do for at least three more hours?

He never had this much time on his hands.

And if he went to bed now, he would wake up at a time like midnight and will be tired for the rest of the day.

He stood there, thinking to himself.

He didn't have much in his mind, as he was always rushed.

But then he thought of something.

Thought of someone.

A friend of his, that he hadn't seen in a very long time.
