Shadow sat down next to Rouge behind the counter.
Rouge suggested that they sit at one of the tables that she had out for the customers, but Shadow felt embarrassed in case anyone came in.
She understood and let him sit with her behind the counter, both of them talking on stools.
Rouge asked Shadow the same question, asking if he was okay.
He put a few more words into his answer, but it was still relatively the same.
And then she asked about his home life.
"I actually got to clean my fridge today... so I guess that's exciting," Shadow said sarcastically.
Rouge giggled.
"Hey, it's doing something."
Shadow hummed.
They turned back to Rouge, which talked about her home life.
About six months ago, she had gotten into a relationship.
Her last relationship didn't go so well, so Shadow was skeptical.
He really did care about Rouge after all.
But by the way she was talking about him, and how they moved in together, it seemed to be going alright.
Shadow nodded, thankful for the good behavior of her partner.
She laughed happily after talking about him for a good three minutes.
"What about you, Shadow? Now that I think about it, I don't think you've ever been in a relationship."
Shadow shrugged, raising his shoulders up in discomfort.
"Yeah..." He managed.
"Do you want one?"
"Not really."
"What?"
Shadow laughed nervously at her response.
"I just don't see the point, really." He scratched his face.
Rouge stared at him, actually surprised for once.
"Wow. You really are heartless."
Shadow scoffed lightly.
"I don't have time for one anyway. I have to get to go know someone new, and I hate doing that."
Rouge nodded and hummed in agreement.
"Wasn't there something going on between you and... what was her name... I swear it started with like, a T or something..."
"...Amy?" Shadow said sheepishly.
"Yeah!"
Shadow let out an obvious sound of disgust.
"Couldn't stand her voice. Or how needy she was. She was just too much. Also, I learned that she was quite young..."
Rouge adjusted her feet on the stool.
"Ugh, yeah. I agree with you on that one. I couldn't really stand her either, and she was always trying to make me or other girls jealous—she just always tried too hard for something she already had, or could've had no matter how much she tried."
"Agreed."
They stood in silence for a moment, which made Rouge get up and make herself a drink.
"Do you want something?" Rouge asked again.
Shadow then shrugged this time.
"Surprise me." He said with a small smile.
Rouge smiled back, stifling a chuckle.
