Shadow wasn't sure if it should check on Sonic, even though he would probably be asleep.
He had a strange feeling that something bad has happened or was going to happen.
And even though his paranoia was shut down by Rouge a few hours ago, he was now alone.
With his paranoia.
So, he went back to his work just to check on him.
He did have to lock Sonic in that room, mainly because he's a special case and also because he has no business being all around the building.
Sonic has already expressed to Shadow how uncomfortable being locked in with no contact makes him feel.
This knowledge made him even more concerned, which gave him even more reason to check on him.
He drove to his work, which took about thirty minutes to get there.
Everyone was quite weirded out to see him again, but he didn't question it.
He just went straight to the room that Sonic was in, trying to quietly and carefully unlock the door.
After he heard a click, he turned the knob slowly and opened the door quietly.
The room was still dark, which was a good sign.
He got himself fully into the room and closed the door behind him softly.
Shadow turned around and looked right at the bed, finding Sonic not sleeping at all.
He stood up, sitting on the side of the bed.
He was holding himself as if he was cold.
"Sonic, are you alright?" Shadow asked, realizing his intuitions were right.
Sonic looked over at him, obviously uncomfortable.
"I just... I just can't sleep. I can't do this. I can't be here. I want to go back home." He said sadly.
Shadow looked at him apologetically.
He didn't exactly know why he was here except to run a few tests on him.
But... he came, voluntarily, right?
But then Shadow remembered what that one doctor said.
"They have arrived. They have no signs of aggression, and are rather exhausted from their attempts of escaping."
It was going to make Shadow sick if Sonic was literally kidnapped just to be here.
"I'm... sorry, but there is nothing I can do about that. But I'll try and make you as comfortable as possible." Shadow assured him.
"Well, you aren't doing a very good job," Sonic said stiffly.
He rocked himself gently, picking at the quills on his head.
Shadow felt... disappointed in himself.
He guessed it was a great humbling moment.
"I'm sorry. What can I do to make it better?" Shadow asked, observing his actions with caution.
If Shadow didn't get his stress levels down soon, he didn't know what was going to happen.
"Can I go outside, or something?" Sonic asked.
Shadow hummed unsurely, thinking.
"I'll go see." He responded.
Shadow left the room quickly after that, assumably to ask where and how.
