Thanks so much for 20K reads everybody!!! I love reading everyone's comments so much – you all are so funny I'm starting to think maybe you should be writing this and not me.

The station was bustling with noise and rushing people who cast occasional glances at our gathered class, spoke hushed words about U.A. and the Sports festival, and went on with their day. "You all have your costumes, right?" asked Aizawa. "Remember, you don't have licenses. You aren't allowed to wear them in public without your supervisor's explicit permission. Don't drop 'em or anything!"

"Yessirr!" Mina cheered, swinging her briefcase overhead.

"Speak clearly. It's Yes, sir, Ashido."

"Yes, sir..."

"Mind your manners with the heroes at your internships. Don't give them a hard time." He waved his hand with a dismissive gesture. "Off with you, now."

"Yes, sir!"

My phone started ringing, so I put it to my ear.

"Hey, Haru! Your class is heading off for your internships today, right?"

"Yeah."

"Good luck! Are you on your way to the agency yet?"

"I'm about to catch the train..."

Squinting, I followed Todoroki's head of bright red-and-white hair through the bustling crowds.

"I'm a little disappointed you would choose the hero one spot higher on the leaderboard over your own brother!"

"That's not it. Your teaching methods are abstract and infuriating at best. Goodbye." I hung up the phone and stepped out of the crowds and onto the train. Todoroki didn't notice me, even as we entered the cabin. I tapped on his shoulder. "Hey."

He blinked. "Oh. You chose my father's agency, after all?"

"Yeah. It's... kind-of a no-brainer, unfortunately."

"Indeed."

(Simultaneously, somewhere in West Shinjuku, Hawks was hanging up the phone. "That was my little sister!" he proclaimed, ruby red feathers fluffing with joy. "She's just the cutest!"

The boardroom of hardened heroes stared back at him blankly.

"Dumbass chicken..."

"Right," continued the chief of police, "So about the joint mission...")

Our train cabin was deserted – people who were heading to Tokyo for work would have left much earlier. I took a tentative seat a little ways down from Todoroki. I glanced at him, and quietly cleared my throat. "So, Todoroki..."

"Yes?"

"I wanted to say, during the Sports Festival..." I flexed my fingers nervously against my lap. "I accidentally overheard your conversation with Midoriya. I don't want to pry, but it feels wrong for me to know and you to not."

Todoroki's eyes widened, then he tilted his head. His gaze trailed to the floor. "I see," he said. "Thanks for telling me."

I folded my hands in my lap, looking at the thick calluses on my finger pads. Mina had held my hand before, and it'd surprised me how soft her fingers were. That was the norm for kids my age, I supposed. But when I glanced at Todoroki's hands, I saw they were similarly rough. "Wanna know something?" I asked.
