"HEY, BOBBY, CAN I ASK YOU SOMETHING?" Sam asks, after Bobby explains to them everything he's found.

"Go for it."

"Does the name Bryce mean anything to you?"

His brows furrow beneath his hat, thinking. "Not sure."

"Did our dad ever mention anything to you about– about us having a sister?"

"Where is this coming from?"

"Something the demon showed him," Dean answers.

His head swivels between the two of them. "The Yellow-Eyed demon? Told you that you've got a long-lost sister? And you believed the bastard?"

"Humor us for a minute, Bobby."

He sighs, rubbing his eyes. "I don't know, boys. I think I would've remembered if your dad said something of that level."

Disappointment swarms in Sam's chest.

Then Bobby yanks his hand from his face, eyes wide. "Balls."

"What?" The brothers demand in unison.

"Carlie."

"Carlie?" Sam repeats as they follow Bobby into the library. The older man starts hastily searching shelves and shuffling through drawers.

"One night, a long long time ago, you all were here for a hunt ran long. Must've been...'88? '89? You boys were sleeping upstairs, so I pulled out the whiskey. Your dad got way too drunk, nearly blacked out, and he told me everything. He said Sam had a twin sister named Carlie, after one of your mom's old buddies, Carlos. He just said she was gone. I thought she died the same night as your mom."

He pulls an old envelope from a drawer and turns back to the boys. "He pulled out his journal, ripped these out, and told me to keep them safe. Then he passed out, and never mentioned it again. I didn't read them. Didn't feel right to."

Sam thinks of how many ripped out pages from the journal he's wondered about. How many of them kept secrets to this degree?

Bobby holds the envelope out to Sam. He hesitates. Dean takes it instead. He's glad for that, he's not sure he'll be able to stomach reading about more of his father's lies.

Dean opens it and pulls out the pages. Sam recognizes the paper from the journal. Dean reads it quickly, scanning the first page, then skimming through the rest.

"What does it say?" Sam quietly asks.

Dean averts his eyes, folding the papers and replacing them in the envelope. "Just confirming everything you said." He sticks the envelope in his jacket.
