Morpheus's POV"Gossamer, I am in need of a new Hospitality Hat." The last one I had was destroyed by these ridiculous creatures that Alyssa's toy soldier had created when he fixed Wonderland. He created many new things that was different from Wonderland's old landscape.
"The Hatter had been busy, Master. T-There had been problems with portals too."
Damn. "I thought that we had put to rest the issue between Queen Ivory and Queen Grendaline."
"Queen Grendaline lost one of her ribbons. She stumbled into the Twid's cemetery and released hundreds of restless souls. Sister Two has taken a hold on the portal and refuses to let anyone leave until the souls are returned."
I shake my head, more work for me. I can't be bothered with this right now. Alyssa hasn't allowed me to seep into her dreams for the past week. Doesn't she understand our deal? She lives her mortal life with Jeb and I continue to teach her Wonderland politics in her dreams. She can't just block me out.
I run my fingers through my hair,"See if Sister One can assist us in finding the lost souls."
Gossamer fluttered toward me and looked down,"That's another issue. Even if we do find the souls, we can't guarantee that Sister Two give back the portal. Sister One is guarding and protecting the White Queen's portal. They are shutting it down to make sure Sister Two can't take control of that one too."
I suppress a yawn and rub my eyes,"We'll figure this out in the morning, goodnight Gossamer."
"Goodnight, Master." Her sweet voice sang.
I headed towards my bedroom and immediately climbed into bed. I'm exhausted from everything that has gone awry in Wonderland. I should consult Alyssa about this, but heavens forbid if she will actually talk to me. I miss my luv and I hope she will come to her senses.
My attempts for falling asleep were hopeless. My thoughts only consists of Alyssa and her beauty. I worry about our relationship, and her. What if something has caused her harm? Perhaps that's the reason she hasn't talked to me. I feel so lost without her. I feel so cold without the fire she ignites in my heart. I even slipped into a random mortal's dream just to feel wanted.
To keep my mind off of things, I might as well take a walk to the sundial portal to see if Sister Two hasn't taken over it as well. Although the sundial portal won't be affected, it's best to take repercussions. Wonderland is beautiful in every mad, insane way. My love for Wonderland is as great as my love for Alyssa, maybe even more. I grab a lantern and trudge my way through Wonderland's landscape. I come upon a white brick building with vines covering every inch. The vines blossom with a bright light. The door to the Great Hall is small to keep away unwanted humans, but I have my own secret entrance that only I can open. I use my powers to shift the vines and bricks into a door. My light scares a few mice off as I peer inside. My shoes scuff the worn down black and white checkered floor. This once was a place of beauty. No one really knows the history of Wonderland and how it was created, it was just there. The Great Hall was created by Lewis Carroll himself. A loud thud comes from the center of the Great Hall, sending mutant rats back towards be. Something is not right. I make my way to where I heard the thud and see a tuff of blonde hair and a body along with it. My heart races and my wings twitch with excitement. Alyssa is back. I rush over to the body and hold my lantern over the body to make sure that Alyssa was not harmed. Why didn't she just use her wings? My light swings over the face. This girl looks netherling. "Alyssa?" I ask.
Cassie's POV
I didn't know how to respond, or if I even could respond. So many questions ran through my mind. Who is Alyssa? Where am I? How is he real?
Before I attempt to answer, he takes a a dim lantern and holds it up to my face. He inspects me for a minute and traces the designs that Milly drew around my eyes. I keep struggling to keep my eyes open. My throat is desperate for water and my legs ache for a hot bath and I'm pretty sure my leg is bleeding because I feel feel warm liquid and it throbs. "Please help me." I croak. My eyes unwillingly shut. The last thing I remember was Morpheus scooping me up in his arms and starts to walk.
My eyes shot open when I felt a jolt. I look up and see Morpheus. He is beautiful. His blue wavy, hair and his pale skin makes my heart shiver with excitement. Around his eyes are similar to the designs that Milly drew on my face, only his have colored gems that seem to flash different colors. I snuggled to the warm of his chest, comforted by the smell of tobacco and- something else sweet. I can't quite put my finger on what type of candy he smells like, but it's familiar. I lightly press my nose into his chest which is covered in a white silk shirt. His gaze drops down to me. I quickly close my eyes, hoping that he didn't catch me starring at him.
I kept my eyes closed until he stops walking. He roughly sets me down,"I know you are not asleep anymore." His British accent sends chills through me. I blush, realizing that he had caught me looking. "What are you?" He asks firmly.
"M-My name is C-Cassie."
"No, that is not what I asked. I asked 'what are you?'"
"I'm a mouse, duh." I chuckled at my Mean Girls quote-but once I saw the that he wasn't amused- I added,"I'm a human." I look around the room. It must be his home because there are a few scattered silk shirts that resemble the one he is wearing now draped over the furniture. I look back to Morpheus and see pure disgust in his eyes. But there is something else too; pain.
"Humans," he scoffs,"disgusting creatures. The only good humans are the ones who are part netherling, and you, Miss, are definitely not from Wonderland."
I'm flabbergasted. He was so gentle and caring in my dream. Now he is cold and distant. "I didn't mean to come here. I-I slipped." If I was wasn't so tired, I would have told him off. But I am so exhausted right now that I can barely function. I attempt to stand up, but my right leg wobbles and I fall right back down. My injured foot feels sore, I don't even bother to look at it. I don't want to know how bad it is right now. Every little emotion settles in my head and my vision is blurred with tears. I look up towards Morpheus, my teary eyes plead for help.
He sighs,"Unfortunately, we have been having some difficulties with the portals lately. This means that you will stay here until everything is resolved. And when I say here, I mean you will be held in the manor and you will go no where else. I can't have a human mucking things up. My pets will take care of you."
"Thank you, Morpheus." I say. He slightly cringes when I say his name. My eyelids are feeling heavy, but despite the struggle to keep them open, they shut.
