Granola

 I'll be honest, the desire to make granola was no where stemming from the need to eat healthy. Aside from being advertised as super healthy food, granola is widely used in pastries and ice creams aka our main motivator. Other than the delightful desserts, this granola can easily be used to make granola parfait, a delicious way to start our day.

Ingredients -

1/2 cup and 1 1/2 teaspoon oats

1/4 cup shredded coconut

2 tablespoon and 1/2 teaspoon silvered almonds

1 1/2 teaspoon oil (Coconut oil if available)

1 tablespoon jaggery

1 tablespoon sunflower seeds

Oil for greasing


Procedure -

1. Grease a baking dish and preheat the oven to 180 degree Celsius.

2. Toss the oats, almonds, sunflower seeds and coconut together.

3. Whisk in the oil and jaggery. Make sure the jaggery is nicely distributed throughout.

4. Spread it even on the baking dish and put in to oven for 20 minutes.

5. Keep stirring intermittently to allow even baking.

6. Once cooled, store in air tight containers.


Note -

1. It can be stored in air tight containers upto 1 month.

2. The for granola parfait the dessert version will be coming up soon.

3. For the breakfast granola parfait, you will need granola, yogurt and any fruits of your choice. To make, in a glass or bowl layer first the yogurt, followed by the granola and finally the fruit. Keep layering in the same manner 3-4 times. Here's my granola parfait made with pears.
