With a keen intent, Baktu endeavored to decipher Khaani's expressions as he proceeded cautiously. "Starting today, 'he' will be joining you and Meesam where ever you have to go" he indicated towards a man positioned at a distance, his back turned to Meerab. Meerab's gaze shifted towards the unfamiliar figure, standing apart and engrossed in a conversation with another of Murtasim's bodyguards, Raza. It was evident that Raza was providing instructions to 'this man,' acquainting him with his role and demonstrating rifle-handling techniques. "The individual" appeared inexperienced and novice in his approach to handling the rifle, as if it were his inaugural encounter with a weapon. Meerab glanced back at Baktu, a mixture of confusion and astonishment on her face, questioning Murtasim's choice of entrusting someone so inexperienced with her and Meesam's security.
Meerab's eyebrows knitted together as she exchanged a perplexed look with Baktu. The scene before her seemed surreal - a newcomer who handled the rifle with uncertainty, contrasting sharply with the seasoned guards she was accustomed to seeing around Murtasim. She couldn't fathom why Murtasim would assign such a novice to protect her and Meesam.Baktu's expression remained composed, but his eyes held a hint of concern. He leaned in slightly and whispered, "Murtasim must have his reasons. Let's give him the benefit of the doubt for now."
Still, Meerab couldn't shake off her unease. As she continued to watch, she noticed Raza patiently demonstrating the proper way to hold and aim the rifle, his experienced hands guiding the newcomer's awkward ones. It was a stark reminder of how unfamiliar this task was to the new guard.
Meerab's protective instincts kicked in. She felt a responsibility not just towards herself and her daughter, but also towards this inexperienced guard who was thrust into a role he seemed ill-prepared for. She turned back to Baktu, determination in her eyes.
"I understand, but I can't help but worry," she whispered back. "If Murtasim trusts him, then I suppose I should try too as well. But I'll keep an eye on him, just in case." Baktu nodded.
Meerab leaned closer to Baktu, her curiosity evident in her tone. "By the way, is he from here, from the village?" she whispered, her gaze never leaving the scene unfolding before them. She was attempting to piece together the puzzle, to uncover any reason that could justify Murtasim's decision to entrust this inexperienced man with their security. Perhaps he had insights into Mallik Zubair's tactics that others didn't, she speculated silently. Baktu took a moment to respond, his voice equally hushed. "No, he's not from around here. I overheard some of the guards talking earlier. Seems he's had some basic training, but nothing compared to the skills our guards possess."
Meerab's brow furrowed further, processing the information. It didn't add up – how could someone with limited training and unfamiliarity with the area be expected to protect them effectively? Her mind raced through scenarios, each one raising more questions than answers.
"Could Murtasim have inside information we're not aware of?" she mused, her gaze narrowing as she watched the newcomer struggle with the rifle. "Maybe he knows something about Mallik Zubair's plans that led him to make this choice."
Baktu nodded slowly, understanding the weight of Meerab's concerns. "It's possible. Murtasim has always been strategic in his decisions. Maybe he sees something in this man that we're overlooking."
As they continued to watch, Meerab couldn't shake off the nagging feeling that there was more to this situation than met the eye. She remained determined to uncover the truth, all while remaining vigilant and prepared for whatever challenges this new arrangement might bring. After all, her instincts as a mother and protector wouldn't allow her to rest until she had assurance that her family was truly safe.
With determined strides, Meerab walked towards the man and Raza. As Raza caught sight of Khaani approaching, he swiftly straightened up, his posture conveying respect, and he lowered his head in a respectful salaam. Meanwhile, Meerab paused a short distance away, her attention fixed on the new guard, anticipation evident in her stance. She awaited his acknowledgment, while he appeared somewhat bewildered by the rifle in his grasp.
