(this takes place while they're in the human realm during season three before all the chaos. luz just asked amity out on a date. they also have not had their first kiss yet in this story. enjoy)

Luz sat on the park bench, kicking her legs, her eyes scanning the park. Her girlfriend was nowhere in sight. Sure, it was twenty minutes early, but she couldn't help but feel the insecurity biting at her, telling her she might not show up. That this was a bad idea. However, she managed to shove that feeling away, as she knew her girlfriend would do such a thing. 

She turned on her phone and was about to play a mobile game when she heard a voice in the distance.

"Luz! Luz!"

When Luz looked up, she saw Amity running towards her, waving with a wide grin on her face. She wore a pale yellow sundress that Luz wouldn't have considered to be Amity's style, her pale purple hair in a low ponytail, but she couldn't deny she looked pretty, beautiful even. 

Luz got off the bench to greet her girlfriend with a hug. She pulled away slightly, her hands around Amity's waist, looking into her gold-colored eyes. The eyes that provided Luz with so much comfort, in the boiling isles and here now, in this sparsely populated park in Connecticut.

"Aw, Luz," Amity said, pulling away. "You look so pretty!"

Luz giggled, letting herself blush.

 "No, that's you, Ami! You look so cute!" Luz cupped her girlfriend's cheeks, which were now pink, courtesy of Luz Noceda. "My perfect girlfriend," she whispered barely.

"Sorry, what was that?"

"Hm? Oh, nothing. C'mon!" Luz slipped her hand into Amity's, lacing their fingers together. Amity looked at Luz, then at their joined hands. This wasn't unusual for them, but Amity still felt a rush at the touch. They began walking.

"Where are we going?" Amity asked.

"I dunno," Luz said, realizing they were wandering aimlessly. Amity laughed, looking at Luz, who returned her gaze and just silently admired the beautiful girl she had the privilege to call her girlfriend. Her eyes glowed in the sunlight, and her smile still gave Luz butterflies after all this time. She just wanted to stop and kiss her right now. But they just continued walking.

"Hey, there's a cat cafe near here. We should go!" Amity said excitedly. 

"Absolutely! I love cats!" Luz laughed awkwardly. "Sorry, I just zoned out."

"It's okay," Amity said. They continued walking, making light-hearted conversation about their friends, and other things, just enjoying the company of each other until they made it to the cafe door. Luz pushed it open, where she looked down and saw almost a dozen cats. And no people. Amity squealed excitedly, petting a cat in the kitty condo near the door.

"Aww," Amity whispered. "Hi, kitty. Hi kitty-cat," Amity cooed, stroking the cat's black fur as it closed its eyes and purred at her touch.

"What do you want, Ami?" Luz asked Amity. 

"What are the- wait, you're paying? I mean, I don't have any human realm currency but..."

Luz laughed. "It's okay, love. I've got it," Luz reassured her, giving her a kiss on the cheek. Amity blushed, averting her gaze. "Thank you, Luz," she says.

"For the drink, or for the kiss?" Luz teases. 

"Both," Amity giggles. "Though I originally meant the drink."

Luz couldn't help her smile. 

"You have such a pretty smile, hermosa," Luz whispers in Amity's ear. When she pulled back to look at her girlfriend, she had her face buried in her hands.

"Just go order, dummy.." Amity's muffled voice meekly said..

"Yeah, see, you never told me what you wanted though."

Amity pulled her hands down, looking at the cat, which had now fallen asleep. "Peppermint latte, please."

"Got it, gorgeous!"

"Luz!" she laughed.

Luz walked to the barista and ordered the drinks, then sat at one of the small two-seater tables. Amity sat at the seat across.

"Hmmm..." Luz squinted. Something felt odd.

"What? What is it?" Amity asked.

Luz got out of her seat and moved it next to Amity's, taking her hand.

"Better."

Amity held Luz's hand and put her head on Luz's shoulder.

"Yeah, it is," she said, caressing Luz's curls.

"Peppermint latte and Chai latte for Luz!" the barista called out.

Luz and Amity shot up to claim their drinks. Luz held her to go cup in one hand and Amity's hand in another, as the walked out.

"Bye cat!" Amity said.

"Bye cat my girlfriend gave more attention to than me," Luz teased.

"Hey!" Luz bumped her shoulder.

"I'm just teasing," she said softly, smiling. 

"Well, the only cute thing here is you now, so I'm all yours," she said, placing a kiss on Luz's cheek. They walked back into the park. 

"That was good," said Luz, "But there is another kind of kiss I was hoping I could give you."

Luz walked to a tree.

"Why are we standing under a tree?" Amity questioned, eyes narrowed.

"Because we need a memorable location," Luz said sweetly.

Before Amity could ask any more questions, Luz moved her hands to Amity's shoulders. Then, she moved them up to her cheeks, rubbing her thumb right above Amity's jawline. She inched her head forward, tilting to the left, and her lips met Amity's.

Amity's lips were soft, reciprocating the move. Amity lingered for a few seconds before Luz pulled away.

"Wow. I love you." Luz said, flustered to all hell. "I mean, not that I needed this to realize that. I don't know what I'm saying. I love you."

"You said that," Amity giggled. "I love you too, Luz," she said, placing a soft kiss on her forehead. 

"Wanna sit down?" Amity asked.

"Yeah, but I don't want your dress to get dirty so..." Luz took off her sweatshirt, revealing a graphic t-shirt that went with her black denim shorts just as well as the sweatshirt did. She put it down.

"Oh. Wow. Thank you," Amity says, blushing at the chivalry.

Amity sat down against the tree, and so did Luz. Luz put her head on Amity's shoulder, and Amity put her hand on top of Luz's. And so, they just sat there, absorbed in the bliss of their love.
