♡ the first night ♡

(setting: Luz and Amity have graduated college, they just got an apartment together in the human realm and this is the first night they're spending together as people who share an apartment... anyway you get it, enjoy)

Luz spun in the chair at her desk, mindlessly scrolling on her phone. Amity does the same, laying on the bed. The palismen are sound asleep on a dog bed next to the desk.

"Hey, it's getting late, we should get to bed now..." Amity says. Luz shuts off her phone to look at her girlfriend.

"So... what's our situation? I mean, we've already established that we're sharing a bed. Do you wanna... I dunno... cuddle or something?"

Amity looked Luz in her brown eyes. "Yeah, if you want."

"Yep!" Luz leaps off the chair and runs over to Amity on the bed, where she collapses on her face next to her. Amity smiles at her girlfriend, who looks up at her grinning. 

"I love you," Luz blurts.

"I love you more," Amity insists.

"Nuh-uh," Luz protests before letting out a yawn.

"Okay, you're tired, come here," Amity lifted the blanket and Luz crawls over and cuddles next to her, nestling her face in the crook of Amity's neck. Amity felt strong affection for her beautiful girlfriend. It was times like this, the comfortable silence between them when they embraced, that let the two know that the other person's company was all they needed.

Luz let out a comfortable sigh.

"Hey, sweet potato?" Luz breathes.

"Yes, love?"

"Are you excited to live together?" she asks.

"Yeah," she replied softly. "If I get to have this every night, this might just be the best decision we've ever made," she held Luz's hand, interlocking their fingers.

"Aww, I feel the same. Goodnight Ami."

"Goodnight Luz."

Luz tries to fall asleep, but she can't. Something about being this close to Amity Blight, the silence, the comfort, she never wanted it to end. She just wanted to indulge in it, laying on her chest, feeling the rise and fall of her breathing, her heartbeat.

"Luz?" Amity asks sleepily.

"Oh crap, did I wake you up? I'm really sorry," Luz whispers.

"Is something bothering you?" She asks drowsily.

"No," she says smiling, placing a delicate kiss on her cheek. "Sorry for waking you up, Amity."

"Mmm, it's okay," Amity says, scratching Luz's scalp soothingly. "Just try to go to bed. It's almost midnight.

"Amity?"

"Yes, Luz?"

"I love this. I want this forever. I love you so much," Luz says smiling. 

"Me too, good night Luz."

She waits for a second and realizes Luz fell asleep. Smiling to herself, she caresses Luz's cheek, and they both fall into a restful sleep

Luz blinks her eyes open, the sunlight filtering through the curtains and flooding her eyes. She slowly sits up, causing Amity to sleepily groan.

"Good morning, Amity," Luz says sweetly.

"Ugh, no, come back," Amity extends her arms, her eyes now open. "I wanna cuddle more."

Luz giggles, returning to her girlfriend's arms. The sunlight warmed them both as Amity kissed the top of Luz's head.

"Oh, crap, my hair looks awful doesn't it?" Amity groans.

"No, I actually think your bead head is really cute!" Luz says.

"Okay, whatever Luz," Amity laughs. "So, do you want me to make us waffles?"

"Yeah, we should get out of bed shouldn't we?" Luz sits up, stretching and yawning.

"C'mon, we need to start our day at some point," Amity grabs her hand and leads her out of bed. "I'll get started on breakfast."

As Amity walked out of the bedroom, Luz felt such joy at the thought that this was gonna be her every day. To wake up and fall asleep with the love of her life, it was the best thing to ever happen to her.
