Chapter 13: The Other Side

[A Day Later]

Alex yawned as he slowly woke up from a nice and long sleep.

After having a brief conversation with Mei the previous day, he had been escorted by her to one of the Helios' many guest rooms as he had bid her a good-night afterwards.

After stretching for a bit, Alex took out his phone and checked the time which read, 10:37 A.M.

'Huh. Woke up rather late for the morning. I wonder if Mei's up by now?' Thought the boy as he decided to go and check up on her.

After getting dressed, he stepped out of his room and walked down the hall towards the room Mei said that she was staying in.

Once he reached her down, he knocked three times.

No response.

Alex then knocked again, this time calling out to her.

"Hey Mei it's me. You up?" He asked.

No response yet again.

Alex place his hand on the handle and was about to open it until he began to second guess himself.

'Wait hold on. This probably isn't the best idea. I mean what kind of guy just walks into a girl's room? Maybe she's just asleep. That has to explain why she's not answering.' Thought the boy as he was beginning to lean towards not walking in until he had remembered what Tesla told him about Mei the day prior.

'Dr. Tesla did say that even though she had been getting better recently, she was still taking Kiana's capture rather harshly. She may be trying to act strong when around me, but maybe when alone she's distraught.'

The those two thoughts began to battle within the kid's mind as he just shook his head and sighed.

'Okay calm down. I'll be quick. Just gonna peek inside and check on her. Since she never responded then I'll probably just see her on the bed fast asleep.'

With that, Alex began to slowly turn the door handle as gently opened the door, quietly peeking his head in through the doorway as he looked around Mei's room.

He didn't see any sign of her so he figured that she was still fast asleep on her bed.

The boy approached her bed and placed a hand on the covers, pulling them back to see, nothing.

"Oh crap. Was she never here to begin with? Yeah most likely. She's probably elsewhere right now."

As Alex said that, he heard a door off to the side open as he looked and not only gasped quietly, but also internally dreaded at what he saw.

Stepping out from the door way was non other than Mei herself, seemingly drying herself off from a recently completed shower as she was currently drying out her purple hair while having a towel wrapped around her body.

'.............................I'm royally fucked aren't I?' Thought the boy as he immediately noticed the severity of the situation.

With no possible way of reaching the door in time, he was gonna somehow talk his way out of this issue.

What didn't help was 'that', side of Alex's brain, a side he always tried to ignore, immediately took notice of Mei's body as the wrapped towel definitely showed off her curves and most noticeably, how ample her chest was.

After Mei finished drying her hair, she was about to remove her towel until she finally noticed Alex standing there.

She immediately yelped and jumped back out of shock.
