Wherever these steps were going, they were approaching an open plaza in the middle of the city surrounded by tall buildings and towers as the area was infested with Honkai Beasts.
The beasts were minding their own business until they too heard the approaching footsteps.
They all turned to a dark corner to see a figure donned in a cloak emerge from the shadows as it stared down the monsters.

The horde began to growl and act aggressive towards this intruder as the figure didn't utter a word, simply reaching an arm behind their back as they withdrew a sword.

Despite the numbers increasing against his favor, the cloaked figure didn't waver as they continued to mow down the horde.
After taking a little breather as they gained some distance from the beasts, they felt as if a presence was watching them from above.
The figure looked up to the top of the tower that was in the area and sure enough there was a person stood up there watching him.

The figure stared at her for a solid couple of seconds before heading towards the tower.
They dodged and weaved through incoming Honkai Beasts as they began to run up along it.
As he ran up the building, the girl simply jumped off the roof and dove down towards the ground.
Eventually, the two would meet each other in the middle, staring at one another as it felt like time had slowed down in that one moment.
