Chapter 18: Rising Waters

[Next Morning]

Alex's eyes slowly opened as the boy woke up still feeling a little tired as he sat up and yawned, rubbing the sleep out of his eyes as a sudden banging sound on his door startled the boy as he fell out of his bed onto the floor.

"A-Alex! Hurry it's an emergency!" Shouted Mei on the other side of the door.

"A-Alright on it!" Shouted back Alex as he gor dressed and equipped his sword onto his back as he exited his room and met up with Mei.

The two would go get Tesla who Mei had awaken beforehand at the cafeteria as the three stepped outside and what Alex saw was shocking.

Nagazora was now suddenly in a torrential downpour as extremely heavy rain began to fall down from the sky as the flooding increased by ten meters, rising up to just below their current level.

"T-The hell!? Did a monsoon just pop up outta nowhere!?" Asked Alex.

"I-I don't know. What could possibly be going on?" Asked a perplexed Tesla.

"Everything was so calm yesterday. This isn't normal." Said Mei before she gasped and realized something. "The children might be in danger! We need to head to the Roost now!"

The three quickly began running towards the tunnel that lead into the safe zone as Alex and Mei dealt with the increased number of beasts that had popped up due to the sudden downpour.

After handling that, they'd all enter the safe zone and make it to the Roost as they saw Sora had seemingly waited for them.

"M-Mei! Alex!" She shouted.

"Sora! Thank goodness you're okay!" Said Mei hugging the girl as Alex and Tesla looked and saw all the kids moving the warehouse supplies as they were obviously ill-equipped and unprepared for the sudden flood.

"All nearby Honkai Beasrs have been neutralized. Stay vigilant. We gotta stany on guard. Moving the kids and their supplies to higher ground and top priority. Tell them that I'll be moving mechs into the shelters for assistance." Said Tesla to Sora as the child nodded and went to inform everyone.

Over the next twenty minutes, Tesla called in A.E. Mechs as the robots alongside Alex and Mei would assist Sora and the children as eventually the lower levels of the Roost had successfully been vacated.

The rain continued to come down hard as thunder now was heard in the sky.

Currently, Alex was looking out over the railing checking on the rising water as he heard and saw Mei, Sora, and Tesla approach from behind.

"We're all done. Everyone and everything has safely been moved up thanks to Dr. Tesla and A.E.'s mechs." Said Mei as Alex breathed a sigh of relief.

"Thank god." He said as Sora herself also looked over the railing at the rising water.

"Why'd the flooding suddenly increase? This city, has become very strange recently." She said.

"Dr. Tesla. Something definitely isn't right." Said Mei as Alex nodded.

"Yeah. The Honkai Beasts are acting way more aggressive than usual and are appearing in large numbers. Something must be causing all of this to happen." He said as Sora suddenly remembered something.

"Could it, be because of that huge beast I saw yesterday?" She asked.

"Beast? What're you talking about Sora?" Asked Mei.

"Shortly after you and Alex left after dropping me off, I was watching the night sky and saw a large bright light in the sky. I couldn't tell what exactly it was but its silhouette made it look like the king of monsters. I had never seen something like that before." Said Sora.
