Sam was a people pleaser; he liked making people happy even if he himself wasn't happy.
So when Colby and Kat got into a fight he didn't know what to do. He loved them both so he spent the rest of the week going back and forth trying to comfort them both, losing sleep from going between houses.
Neither noticed until they made up with each other and then realized why Sam was so drained. He would be helping Colby from 6am to 1pm and then go straight to Kat's until 4am then film; edit; eat; sleep; shower then repeat.
