"Donna?"
Caroline pushed herself up from the bed, holding the blanket against her chest, covering her naked body. She looked around the room, the sun peeking from the closed curtain covering the window stinging her eyes.
Madonna's side of the bed was already cold, she must have gotten up early to start the day. At least she hoped that was what happened.
She slipped out of bed, picking up her abandoned dress and undergarments on the floor, noticing Madonna's clothes were also gone. As she put her clothes on, her fingers brushed against the pendant hanging around her neck.
It rested perfectly on her chest, sitting nicely there and she must be imagining it, but there was a radiating warmth coming from the pendant.
She's wanted this necklace for years but she never managed to bring herself to buy it and it was really unexpected for Madonna to buy it for her or even remember that she wanted the necklace.
No one ever really remembered the things she liked and wanted. Lovely and Madame Sal used to, when she was younger, especially after the accident happened, they did everything to help her heal and helped her go through it.
But now that they are older, now that Lovely has a husband and a child, now that Madame Sal is almost preparing herself for the worst despite Caroline and Lovely's dismay, now that she has her own life, no one does it anymore for her.
No one except Madonna.
She remembered Caroline likes night picnics, that she likes chocolate flavored ice creams, that she always wanted to buy the necklace that now sat nicely around her neck.
She quietly walked out of the bedroom, careful not to get caught by the girls in case they were still across the hall in their own bedroom but the bickering voices from the kitchen told her the coast was clear. She peeked over the doorway towards the common room, finding the girls fighting over the last piece of waffle with their backs turned from the entrance, providing her an easy way in without getting caught.
She glanced at the sofa, perking up upon finding a familiar figure sitting on the gray sofa with the cats sitting near her, looking up to her for more pets which she gladly provided with both hands.
Instead of joining the girls at the table, Caroline took the opportunity to walk over to Madonna and stand behind her from the sofa, placing her hands on the redhead's shoulders, almost startling her if it wasn't for Daisy who immediately looked up to her owner as soon as she saw her.
"Hey." Madonna glanced over her shoulder, eyes landing on Caroline who stood behind her, smiling brightly but there was a himt of freight in her eyes that was quickly replaced with sunshine.
Madonna raised an eyebrow "Good morning." she greeted, flashing a small smile "Seat with me?" she gestured towards the empty space beside her.
Caroline nodded, walking around the sofa, sitting right beside Madonna and taking Daisy to sit on her lap, showering the cat's face with morning kisses "Good morning, my love. How was your morning walk?" she asked.
Daisy meowed, sniffing her chin before licking it as a sign for returning her kisses. Caroline chuckled before turning to Lucifer who sat on Madonna's lap, licking his paw "Good morning, Lucifer." she greeted "How was your sleep?"
Lucifer spared her a glance then yowled.
"I'm afraid he isn't in a very pleasant mood." Madonna said "The girls woke him up with their bickering." she pointed at the girls who glared angrily at each other, holding the plate where the last waffle was.
"I see, have you eaten breakfast yet?"
"No, I was waiting for you."
Caroline blinked, staring at Madonna who looked back at her, frowning at the confused look on her face "What?" the fiery woman asked.
