Day light peeked through the red velvet curtains that covered the window, slipping through the smallest cracks, giving light to the dark room.

Two naked bodies lay on the king size bed, limbs tangled with each other, mixed with the soft texture of the velvet covers. Madonna slowly opened her eyes, sighing softly at the warmth of having another body against hers.

She flexed her fingers, feeling the ache of last night's events in her bones but pleasure and a twinge of giddiness came along that ache. She reached out, brushing her fingertips against the warmth of Caroline's skin, the naked woman shuddering slightly from the contact.

Madonna smiled and began drawing mindless patterns on Caroline's arm, she took her moment, soaking everything in as she stared at how peaceful and beautiful her fianceé looked.

Fianceé. The word made her grin wider.

Caroline snored softly, her wild brown scattered all over the pillow, a few strands on her face, she slept on her side, her left hand tucked safely under her face. Her right leg hooked around Madonna's left leg, keeping her close.

Madonna's eyes darted to the small sparkling diamond on her fianceé's left hand, her grin got wider and she could not help but move closer, leaning down to kiss the tip of Caroline's nose.

The brunette stirred under the attention but did not show any signs of waking up, instead, she snuggled closer to Madonna, burying her face against the crook of the redhead's. Her hand came to rest on Madonna's waist, pulling her close.

Madonna sighed, shaking her head, they were in no rush. They had all the time in the world now. She kissed Caroline's temple, caressing her back.

Another hour passed before Madonna felt Caroline finally stir slightly in her arms, the brunette's body growing warmer as she tried to stretch her arms and legs, yawning softly. The small sound made Madonna smile, she opened her eyes and glanced at Caroline, the brunette's head was turned away from her, instead, she was focused on her left hand, mainly on the gold ring around her finger.

Madonna chuckled at the sight, the sound of her small laugh was enough to snap Caroline out of her daydreams, the brunette quickly turned to look at her, cheeks slowly turning pink.

"Good morning." she shyly smiled.

The redhead leaned close and kissed the tip of her lover's nose "Good morning, darling." she said, pulling back with a small grin on her face.

Caroline giggled "I missed you," she said "I missed this. I missed everything about you, about us."

If her heart could soar, it would have been in the heavens by now. Madonna felt herself flush, she felt giddy about how Caroline was the only person to ever make her blush simply by her words.

"I'm never leaving again." she promised.

Caroline's eyes softened, and for a moment they turned hopeful "I know." she whispered, then her eyes had that melancholy she's never seen before "It's torture to be apart from you, Donna."

Madonna sighed softly, she took Caroline's hand, bringing it to her lips "It was for the better," she kissed each of her fingertips "And we are together again, are we not? And we have all the time in the world, my darling heart." she smiled.

The brunette blushed prettily but there was still a hint of hesitation present in her voice as she spoke "We are together again, living in a small cottage by the woods, the village an hour away, with our cats, our daughters miles away in the city."

"And I would never trade the world for this." said Madonna, her tone promising "I have made my decision, Caroline. I am going to stay here. It is not a decision I made lightly. And my decision is to stay here, to stay where I belong, where my heart is, my home." she kissed Caroline's palm "And our daughters can always visit, we can always visit."
