Later that evening, sitting on the sofa watching tv. All I heard in my head was get out of the house. I picked up my phone and scrolled through my contacts. I came across the perfect person to hang out with. This phone rang, and a man's voice answered with a hello.

"Hey, is this Monty?" He was the only person I could think of. The voice replied, "Yes, it is me, Charles. How are you doing?" He sounded different over the phone. I had to make sure I had the correct number. Once he confirmed it was him, that sparked off a great conversation.

After a short small talk conversation, I had to tell Monty the reason for the call. "I called because I started therapy today. One of my assignments is to get out of the house more. I remembered what you told me the other day after our session. Are you not busy this weekend? Friday or Saturday, we can link up and chill." He thought about it for a minute. Then he said, "I don't think I have anything, but let me check my phone." I can hear him scrolling and clicking through the phone. After about 15 seconds, he said, "I do not have any plans for either of those days, so sure."

It's this new Christian Club downtown that just opened about a week or two ago. From the posts on TikTok, everyone says it is hype. We are not that old, just in our early 30s. I asked Monty if he would be interested in going. He hesitated for a moment. Before he could answer, I hurried and encouraged him to give it a chance. I have never been to a nightclub, bar, etc. It's not that I was too holy or saved. I had not interested in the party wildlife. In college, everyone would party on Friday nights. I would stay in my dorm room or find a religious event to attend off campus. That is actually how me and Shalonda meet. We were at this young adult round-the-table discussion at Rising Star Church of God in Christ. We will save that story for another time.

Monty agreed to go to the Christian Club. But he insisted on picking the place to eat. That was fine with me. I am a greedy man. I will eat anything except all that Vegan stuff. No, I am not a fat chubby guy either. I am an average 5'8 guy, weight about 125 lbs. People call me a professional thug because I have locs, earrings, and tattoos. I wouldn't say that. I just like the style and wearing my shirt and tie.

He mentioned his brother had just opened a new bar and grill uptown. I am always down to support the culture and anyone in the family. Plus, I have been craving a tender steak for a minute. We both agree to go on Saturday. I used to take Carly out on Friday nights as we had Daddy-Daughter time, Saturday would be Bae day, and Sundays would be worship and family time.

I snapped back to reality when my phone ranged. Put the Monty call on hold and answered the unknown number. This voice said, "Hello, is this Dr. Charles Skye?" People only call me Doctor during work hours. It's usually just Charles or CJ. Not knowing who this was, I replied yes. The voice finally introduced himself as Investigator Trey. I felt relieved and excited, thinking he had some good news for me.

Unfortunately, he had no updates but wanted me to come into his office first thing in the morning. Not thinking about the office or appointments, I immediately said yes. After all, God is first. My life is next, all of my clients afterward, and finally, family and friends.

Investigator Trey had a  demanding tone. I hope everything is ok. Just be here! I clicked back over to Monty. He was still holding after about 5 minutes. He didn't ask, but being friendly, I told him who was on the phone. I even told him how nasty his attitude was.

The clock read 8:30 pm. I knew I had to get in the shower, read my bible, and pray as usual. It felt good to have someone to talk to. Hopefully, everything goes well this weekend.

As I completed the final verses of this chapter, I got on my knees and said my nightly prayers. "Dear God of joy, forgive me for being afraid. I ask. When fear comes into my mind, you will replace it with your love. For the joy of the Lord is my strength. I feel as if I am falling into a TRAP. Protect Jasmine and her family, Miss Amy, and Monty. Amen!"
