The sun was beaming down on the car when. I got out to walk into the office. From the outside looking in, it seemed as if the lights were off. When I opened the door, I felt the breeze of cool air hitting my face.

"Good Morning, Miss Amy." She was sitting at her desk reading the newspaper. It had to be an interesting article this morning. Usually, she would lay the paper down and hand me a cup of coffee. Today, she just said good morning, and her eyes led me to the counter where the coffee was brewing.

After a few minutes, she got up. "I refuse to be slacking today." I looked at her and encouraged her to be the best. She always knew how to start the best conversations and have small talk. Miss Amy asked me about my night and morning. Reaching to hug me, she jumped back and asked why I was so sweaty. I went on to tell her about my night and what I encountered this morning.

Miss Amy's first question was, did you pray about it? "Yes, I did. I made plans this weekend," I told her. She started asking questions like my mom did. The first time I brought Shlonda home. Thinking it was Jasmine, I had to correct her. For some reason, everyone thinks I like her. Jasmine is a beautiful young lady. It's not good to jump into a new relationship after the death of your wife. I asked if she knew Jasmine was Pastor Johnson's daughter. To my surprise, she already knew. The question is, why am I the last one to know everything?

Her next question was, "Who are you going out with?" I do not remember mentioning Monty to Miss Amy, so I just told her my gym director. She had multiple questions after she found out it was a guy. Cutting her off quickly, I told her it was just brotherhood bonding.

Of course, she wanted to know where we were going. I told her about Monty's brother's new bar & grill. Then I mentioned the new Christian Club downtown. She got this weary face. I knew it was coming because I used to be an ex-alcoholic. I never had any bad public situations but at home. I gave my mother hell. I do not recall being disrespectful physically.

"It is a Christian fellowship. At the club, they serve food but no alcoholic drinks and only play gospel music," I explained to her. Miss Amy is old school and still does not agree, but that will be okay. My discernment spirit was strong enough to leave if something was not going well. The Bible tells us to fellowship with one another. Time changes, but the word of God remains the same. I know how to leave if I don't see the Glory of God.

After that, I told her how I got that weird phone call while talking to Monty. Like me, her first question was are there any updates. Sighing. I said, "No, I met with him this morning." She was curious about how that went. I walked over to our sofa in the waiting area, and she followed me. I told her about the new case Trey introduced to me. She was not surprised it involved Delvin because she saw that on his profile. What shook her was the connections to Shalonda and Carly's case. I told her how they wanted to use me to help find out. She pointed at the door and said, "Today will be a good day to start because your boys are here."

Rushing to my office, I almost spilled coffee on my white shirt. I had to get to my desk to pull out their folders to take notes. They were my only clients. I did not have to review their case because it was so fresh on my mind.

I could hear Hudson's loud voice, "Come on, we're late!"

"Don't rush me. I had to clean my shoes because somebody wasted ketchup on them." Mason screamed back.

August whined, "Don't blame me. Blame the driver for hitting that pothole."

I was standing at the door, ready for them. Miss Amy was still sitting in the chair in the lobby. Before she could say anything, "Boys, how are you guys today?" They walked towards me and greeted me the same as the first day. I moved out of the doorway to let them pass. They each smiled at me and shook my hand with a tight grip.
